Auburn was just a better team.

There, I said it.

No way to nuance it. They were better on both sides of the ball. And, lets be honest here, Cam Newton is THAT GOOD.

The issue now is how this team responds. They still have plenty to play for...it will be interesting to see the rest of this season unfold. IMO 10-2 will be a big accomplishment.

The issue is not that Auburn was so good, as much as it was LSU just looked like they hadn't prepared. They had 1 week to get ready for CN. Even after the first half it was obvious that we needed to load the box and bring the pressure. Offense looked like garbage the entire game.

LSU could have won had they been ready for the game. I honestly don't think they were coached good enough over the week.

That was the main issue. That and the 2 big plays we gave up on D were the difference in the game.

I'm not so sure about that...but we can only hope Newton gets a nasty case of hemorrhoids and has to sit out for the Miss/Georgia game (in conjunction with both of those teams getting some talent) and they drop one of those, plus the bama game.]

Doubtful, but hope springs eternal.

Don't know about that, but I can tell you Saban will blitz the shite outta AU! Cam won't have more than 140 yds combined against Saban...Guaranteed! Sad thing is, we have more defensive talent than BAMA...it just wasn't used correctly Saturday. Which surprised me big time

The offense looked like shite, but the defense gave up 526 yards...lets be real here people. It wasn't one of those, "if we had ..." or "if Les hadn't..." type games.

We got beat. Pure and simple.

And the Man crush continues on this board! What about Bama's D this year makes you think they can stop Cam? Was it how they held an average SC team to under 50?

With better coaches... that's the part I find hard to accept.

Did the coaches drop passes? Or arm tackle?
This was a joint effort, or lack thereof. The only silver lining in this fart cloud was the punt game.

We got beat in every other aspect, coaching included, besides time of possession.

What is the Bama secondary like? When blitzed, Newton's passer rating goes up. The 'Bama game might be close but no way do they stop them.

Like the OP said...we got beat. AU was the better team this past weekend. Coaching or not, players still have to execute...still have to tackle...still have to catch passes.

I like our chances in every game the rest of the season. Go 3-1 and we end up 10-2...a very respectable season.

No.

And here's where I'm going to have to disagree with your whitewashing. Our players arm-tackled because in the defensive scheme we were running against an amazing QB an arm was all we could get on him.

Good post. Auburn is a good team with a great quarterback and similar talent level of LSU. If that game were played in Baton Rouge, we may have won with the home field advantage. I think 9-3 is where we will land...10-2 would be a fantastic season!
