Wasn't the 08' game a decently called game by the refs?

after the previous 2 debacles, i don't recall a single "ridiculous" call during this game.
am i correct?

For the most part. I still think they might have missed about 20 or so holding calls on Ziemba, but other than that I don't remember anything bad.

but maybe since we are both undefeated and both national champion and sec contenders, they might just let us play ball and let the chips fall where they may.

If the SEC refs cheated for us so vehemently I'm shocked we lost such a close game.

Funny how the refs only cheat for Auburn in games you lose. I've never read a single complaint about the refs cheating for Auburn in games LSU has won.

Quite honestly, I was stunned that LSU didn't get a late hit penalty on the last play of that game, especially since it happened right in front of the Auburn bench.

LSU fans will admit when we've benefited from a bad call like the one last season in Georgia. There is a history of us getting horrendous calls AT Auburn. I saved this pic from 2006 for just such an occasion. Our player had no chance at the ball because the Auburn defender had him completely wrapped up. This call was clearly missed and changed the game. Funny that it happened in the 4th quarter just like the bad calls against Arkansas.

if by history, you mean one game, then yes I agree there is a history.
And don't even start with 2004.

Too bad Georgia fans wouldn't admit the same.

What your picture doesn't show is that the ball was tipped in the opposite direction of the receiver just after that picture. The receiver had no chance to catch the ball. Therefore it was deemed uncatchable and the pass interference (which WAS called) by rule had to be picked up.
The refs could have called defensive holding and probably should have, and they wouldn't have had to pick that up. I wouldn't have had an argument with that since the defender did get there early.

Why?
Have you seen "leaping" since? I watch a good amount of football and don't think I have honestly.

It was a rule that year, and was scrapped after that year.

I don't care what the NCAA said the week after the game, that's not an intelligent interpretation of the rule, and everybody knows it. By that logic, as a DB you could run over any receiver you want and it would be okay as long as you then knocked the ball down before it reached him. That's ridiculous.

And it flies in the face of just about every "reaching around the back" PI call ever made where the DB knocks the ball away in front of the receiver.

Well, I consider myself pretty up to date with that stuff and didn't actually know that... I knew of the rule at the time and still think it was BS. However, thank you for the clarification.

Refs were completely on board for Bama last year. The game against LSU was a disgrace, but not on par with that 06 Aubie game. That game was just pathetically called throughout.

Its just Auburn-LSU week.
Anyone remember 4th quarter of Arky-UF 2 years ago?
Any game with UF or Bama last 2 years?
SEC goes with whoever has a shot at an undefeated NC season, Mainly Bama.

I wouldn't want it mentioned either were I an Au fan. '04 was was a horrible interpretation of a rule at the most critical junction of a high-profile game that handed Au a victory instead of overtime. Yeah, I think it's worth a mention.
