Miles' average margin of loss, at LSU, is just 141 points over 15 games, or 9.4 points per game

However, going back to Saban Bowl #2, we've only been outscored 48 points over those last 7 losses, or less than 7 points per game.

So, while everybody is grousing and griping over the wins, I often raise the point that we are in almost every loss under Miles.

That was NOT true of Saban's [edited to reflect 16 losses over 5 years at LSU (*note to Sabanistas, Miles will have to lose 1 game this year to equal that number in 6 years.) I previously said had 18 losses at LSU which was incorrect.] Saban had multiple 4 touchdown drubbings, at least one a year, except 2003. 2002 (his third year), for example, we lost to the Alabama teams by a combined score of 62-7.

Really, only the SEC-CG against UGA in 2005 and the Florida game in 2008 are in the same league as Saban's 5 or 6 worst losses.

ETA - Saban lost 16 games (not 18) by 247 points at LSU, averaging a 15.4375 loss margin. By contrast, Miles has lost 15 games by 140 points or 9 1/3 points per loss. The individual loss margins are 3, 20, 4, 3, 6, 2, 30, 14, 6, 18, 1, 10, 9, 2, & 2 bold indicates OT. SO, out of Miles 15 losses, the scores was tied at the end of regulation 4 times. To Saban's credit, he was 3-0 in OT games at LSU. Miles is 4-4 in OT.

We haven't been blown out since '08 at UF. Although UGA in 08 was also bad it was becasue Lee threw two picks.

The expression "0/0 = ?" requires a value to be found for the unknown quantity in "? x 0 = 0".

Again, any number multiplied by 0 is 0 and so this time every number solves the equation instead of there being a single number that can be taken as the value of 0/0.

In general, a single value can't be assigned to a fraction where the denominator is 0 so the value remains undefined.

(My best guess would figure the margin of victory, then reverse the polarity of that value.)

If only LSU had hired Miles instead of Saban, just think how much farther along this program would be.

Penn State is the only out of conference loss also right?

I am pretty sure Saban somehow lost to UAB one year.

Yeah, but what's his average margin per win? That shite should be interesting...

We've been a rabbit's foot away from mediocre these last few years.

Clever.

And I like people who support their arguments with clear and factual statistics.

It was close though, unlike the other three losses that year, @Auburn -17, @Florida -32, @Ark(Little Rock) -11. The UAB was only -3 (and the only home loss in Saban's inaugural season). It actually helped Saban's margin of loss, lowering from -20 to -15.75 for the year (Who said we were bad averaging -14 in 2008?). That was also about par for Saban's career, averaging just under 15 1/2 point losing margins over 16 losses at LSU.

Oh, and I maligned Saban earlier - he had 16 losses at LSU (the UAB in 2000 and the Bama in 2002 seemed like more than 2 losses, for some reason) not 18.

So,under Miles, 10 out of 15 are single digit losses, and 12 out of 15 were within 2 touchdowns. Only 1 out of 15 was greater than 3 touchdowns.

So, you would rather be able to run up the score when we win, than be within winning score range on the games we do lose.

You fricking people just don't get it.

Miles has a knack for hanging around. Very rarely do we get blown out. I'll give him that.
