I just had an idea about the QBs I could be way off but...

I know Les is smart enough to see Lee is doing better at this point so there must be other factors forcing him to keep giving a large number of snaps to JJ. Les is kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place he is the one that put all his eggs in the Zach Lee basket however with only 2 scholarship qbs if he benches JJ he may lose the kid for good because I believe JJ would transfer after the season or would be so upset he might become a distraction for the team. If that happened even if Les lands Mettenberg he would still be stuck with only 2 scholarship qbs on the roster to start next year or 3 if he can land 2 which is still not a great situation to be in. This would certainly explain why he has treated JJ with kid gloves no matter how he is doing in the passing game.

I know I will just enjoy the way the season is going from here on out because I don't think Les has much of a choice regarding JJ he can't afford to lose the kid by benching him and all hell would break lose if he still only had 2 scholarship qbs next year.

I feel much more confident now that Les has everything under control and is doing what he needs to do to protect the team and make them better. I hope he can keep playing the risky game, like a master tactician, of giving JJ just enough snaps to keep him satisfied but not so many that he hurts the team for the rest of the season because he's done a pretty good job so far.

Like I said I may be way off what do you guys think?

Winning the game is (or should be) what's on CLM's mind, not if JJ is going to pout and transfer if he's benched for playing poorly.

Shep would be better for the Role we have JJ filling. Another reciever would probably be better than Shep. Both problems solved!

I agree but losing JJ would hurt the team don't you think? Then we would be one play from a walk on playing or next year from a true freshman playing. I agree winning now is the main focus but do we want to be worried about depth again next year?

What would you do if JL starts looking like JL of 08 all of a sudden?
Same tiger fans will boo him and ask JJ to be in the QB. JJ would loose confidience by that time and we wont have any QBs to step up when we need them the most.

Remember, we are the same tiger fans who booed JL 2 years ago and JJ 2 weeks ago.

Les Miles is utilizing the best situation now, just taking pressure off the 2 QBs.

We are winning games beacause we are utilizing best capabilities of both QBs now

Lee will definately get more snaps if we need more passing game. So whats the difference in keeping him as a back up or starter.

i have said this before. i really do feel they baby JJ just in case..

i really am not trying to say anything negative about an LSU player.. but jefferson seems a little immature at times and like he hates the dual qb situation.. yet he gets the majority of snaps.. just an observation.. and my opinion. that is all!

i think the more Lee continues to show progression.. (something i will admit. i didn't ever think was possible for him.) the more time he will get and he will eventually become the outright number 1.. without any other worries.

Yeah, but Jefferson is still very predictable and is not a good pocket passing qb at all.. it hurts the offense imo more so than benefits. I do like the goal line packages of him running or a roll out.. but that's about it..

Lee continues to go out and perform.. then he will have won the job. He is playing far better at the QB position.

No your right no real difference, although I would like to see a more flexible alternating pattern like leaving the hot hand in instead of switching back and forth every series no matter what. Oh well though we are 6-0 so what the coaches have done so far has worked just would like to see some small tweaks. But who knows guess you could say if it ain't broke don't fix it as well. I'm just excited we could be 7-0 when we get to aurburn and 8-0 when Saban comes to death valley who thought we had a chance to be in that position when the season started pretty damn cool and for the first time this year I believe the coaches may be able to get it worked out in time to beat Alabama

maybe JL is so good he doesn't want people to know how good he is. That way he can't leave early for the NFL

Miles said on his show a couple of weeks ago that they know JJ can throw the ball and they just need to get him back on track. How long exactly are we going to wait to get him back on track before we realize it ain't happening and make JL our primary QB. We are getting to the meat of the schedule in terms of making it to ATL and waiting one game too long might just ruin a special season.

If JJ has that attitude, don't let the door hit him in the arse. For all what JL went through, if JJ pulls this, he would need to go. JL did not bail and lost a lot of weight and as we can see, has improved tremendously and still is not seeing the PT he deserves. But he is still hanging in there. JL needs to be our #1 and JJ needs to deal with it and be a solid #2

Tonight on his radio show Les said they need to keep playing both qb's because each one brings a different skill set. One is a better runner and one is a better passer.

I think the key to keeping this successful is not becoming predictable when a certain qb is in. Let the running qb (JJ) pass it occasionally because the defense is likely thinking run when he's in. And conversely, let JL run it occasionally. Defenses won't be able to key on run or pass that way, depending on who's in the game.

I agree, just as a disclaimer I don't have any inside info my belief that he would transfer is based solely on the attitude he has displayed on the sidelines when he gets taken out and on incidents like when he said something that pissed Clement off after the TD on the broken play. I couldn't believe the look on his face when they left JL in that one time after they got inside the 10 and JL threw those beautiful fade passes it was like he couldn't believe the coaches weren't putting him in.

LOL yeah Les doesn't exactly give you the impression he is intelligent but I don't think a dumb man could win 80% of his games over 6 years even though he does his best to make you think he is

Les is no genius, but Les knows his players. The simple truth is that Les has 2 QB's with confidence issues that he is managing, and his success over the next two years depends on both of them.

Do any of us really know that Lee would still be playing at this level if he hadn't had a chance to build his confidence? He looked a little excitable in his first couple throws. Maybe he was a bit too excited for the first two games? We don't know. Les probably does.

JJ hasn't been playing well, but when JJ is at his best, he can move this team. And he does it a very different way than Lee. So while everyone is calling to pull him, Les stands by him and gives him the opportunity to make some big plays. Even got him a couple touchdowns.

Les has it set up so that he can play either quarterback however he pleases. If Lee looks a little shaky, he can use JJ till Lee calms down. If JJ isn't playing well, Lee can keep us in the game. The big payoff doesn't come by making Lee the starter. The big payoff comes when we get JL and JJ confident at the same time. If he can pull that off, our offense becomes scary.

Shep isn't some all world player like pp is. At least not yet. He could not play jjs role, no way no how. Jordan is built like a fb. Shep would get snapped in half. People think shep is like mcfadden or Felix jones, he is far from it.

When we first began subbing QBs it crossed my mind that it would be a touchy thing especially if Lee did well but QBs have to have thick skin and their job is to be ready whether they start or not. There are too many people to let down if you don't make the best football decision. In the event that JJ's snaps are reduced dramatically, he'll just have to deal with it. He'll have a role, and he'll just need to accept it and make the best of it.
