Tim Brando and Miles' Buyout

On the Timmy B Show today, there was a good bit of talk about Les Miles of course. Brando, in response to a pro-LSU caller, said that Miles' buyout is over $13 million.
Does anyone really know the real amount of the buyout should things really turn south in the remainder of the season?

If his buyout is anywhere near that amount, he will not be fired. With the economy ,LSU cutting education, etc, i think it would be a PR nightmare.

Then I blame Obama for us having to keep Les.

It's his annual salary x the four years left on his contract.
A WHOOPING $15M so all you haters can just SHUT IT!!

That is within the range everytime I've seen it brought up and no the buyout will not happen this year, not coming off another bowl appearance.
Crowton will likely be allowed to move on like he did with other coaches.
It will take a losing year to start the buy out talk in a serious fashion.

The buyout would come from TAF which is seperate from university money for education.

I'm surprised this is not brought up more by the local radio personalities....not even mike from Plaquemine has mentioned this and he's the Otters source.

Or number of losses per year as long as he's here...just depends on how u look at it.

If this is true, two things jump off the page at me:
(1) Whomever re-upped his contract should be fired and sued for bad faith and breach of fiduciary duty; and
(2) Miles is not going anywhere, under any circumstances until after the 2012 season, period.

his contract was extended through 2012 before the Ohio State game. it was not rolled over after 2008 or 2009 so the end date on it is still 2012.

and TAF is tapped out from stadium improvements, weight room, practice facility, New Alex Box, football operations office and now the new basketball practice facility....

I think it is through 2014

Ed Danielson said yesterday that the contract expires in December 2012, but someone on here said last night that O Keefe reupped it before he left so the contract is good until 2014. I am not sure which is true.
I will give miles this, he has turned around the special teams and defense through the hiring of good coaches. Now he needs to can crowton, hire a great OC and back up and let the guys coach.
QB development is what is lacking. The O line will get better each year, we are loaded at RB and WR. I believe a Great QB coach could make a good QB out of J Lee.

NEW ORLEANS - A buyout of head coach Les Miles' contract will be quite costly.
A source said today that Miles' contract extends through 2014. The source said Miles' deal was extended thru 2014 in a letter from then chancellor Sean O'Keefe to Miles.
Miles earns $3.751 million per season.

o'keefe was out in January 2008. I doubt they signed a new contract through 2012 and then just decided to extend it an addition 2 years a month later. Don't pay attention to Daniels. He's a hack and doesn't even name his source because it's probably Jai Eugene and Tiger Todd
