Cutler vs Eli

Who is the better QB? Poll on ESPN asking this question and more people think Eli is better. I was like, WTF, really?

Uhhh the Super Bowl Ring against the undefeated Patriots should have given it away. Eli.

So playing on a better team makes Eli better. OK.

The Giants pass rush and our gigantic ego lost that game. Charlie Batch would have won that shite. The answer, as horrible as it sounds, is Cutler.

Trent Dilfer is better than Dan Marino

Cutler, until the 3-0 start this year, was pretty much the suck.
Eli has been solid for years now.
The Bears will come down to earth soon enough

I can't remember what game it was, but he literally couldn't throw the ball into the wind. The guy is the opposite of solid, and if his last name wasn't Manning, no one could give two shits about him.

You clearly don't follow the NFL.
You know it's not always easy to throw in the Meadowlands when it's windy, right?
His numbers the last 2 years are better than Cutler's. Cutler threw 26 picks last year. Eli has been to the pro bowl and has a superbowl MVP.
He's not spectacular, but he is definitely solid.

Pro-Bowls are useless. You are correct that I don't really pay that much attention to either of these QBs, but I also remember the Giants could run on anyone, thus he should have good numbers. I also remember Chad Pennington being a successful QB in the Meadowlands.

Pro bowls are useless in what sense?
Is there no correlation between being a good player and going to probowls? The best players in the league get voted in. Usually the players who had the best seasons get voted. Whether the elected are healthy enough to actually play is a different story...
The Giants have been a great running team in the past (2008 and before). They didn't run well last year and Eli had a 93.1 QB rating with 27 TDs vs. 14 picks (2009).
He's a solid QB any way you slice it. Hate all you want tho, to each his own.

when eli locks onto a receiver and gets into a groove with that one guy.. he is as lights out as it gets.
i suppose this season only i'd give the nod to cutler.. but he makes some really bone headed decisions too.

Ron Jaworski and Merril Hodge broke down Eli's season so far the other day on NFL Matchup and Eli can still make all the throws. He had a 25 and out to Steve Smith that was a thing of beauty(the standard out route that most QBs are judged by is 18 yards). He can be inaccurate when the wind becomes unpredictable, but so can Drew Brees and he is pretty good. Eli isn't getting help from his Oline this season and Jay Cutler has had like 6 dropped interceptions so far this season. I guarantee Cutler starts to frick up really bad in the next few games, whereas Eli will eventually get it going again.

From a pure, raw talent standpoint Cutler is head and shoulders above Eli in that regard, there is no debating that.

Comparing their career stats, the best you can argue is a wash.

Raw talent? Like arm strength? Decision making? Winning football games?
Cutler is "head and shoulders" better?
Cutler = 26 picks last year. He was not a good QB any way you look at it.
I get that the Bears are 3-0 and everyone is jimping over Cutler right now, but let's not get carried away.

Thats not true at all. Eli has just as strong of an arm as Cutler and he is a little bigger. He's never had the luxury of playing with a top 5 WR like Brandon Marshall (Plaxico was not top 5) and Cutler has been with 2 Offensive Coordinators that are way more passer friendly. No matter what any of us say, the Giants are a decent football organization, and there is no chance in hell they pay a young QB THAT much money unless you know he has extraordinary talent and intangibles

Eli's INT %: 3.2%
Cutler: 3.5%
Eli's TD %: 4.5%
Cutler: 4.7%
Pretty much a wash.

Talent is pretty subjective but if you had to rank the top 10 most talented Qbs that have been in the league for more than a couple seasons:
1. Peyton Manning
2. Tom Brady
3. Michael Vick
4. Aaron Rodgers
5. Donovan Mcnabb
6. Philip Rivers
7. Drew Brees
8. Eli Manning
9. Matt Ryan
10.Jay Cutler
Carson Palmer/Joe Flacco/Matt Schaub/Tony Romo could all be argued to be just as talented as Matt Ryan or Jay Cutler, but again this is just my opinion
Stafford, Bradford, Sanchez could all be that good eventually but none of them have rocket arms or move real well other than Stafford, and he looks like he might be the most talented young QB out there.
Favre is too old to be on my list, and I'm sure I'm missing somebody
