you have to listen more carefully. He said he was "responsible for the game planning".
You interpreted that to mean he called the plays, when his answer more likely meant something like "I am the head coach, so I am responsible for the overall play of the offense, as well as the offensive game planning and offensive play calling, and so I work with the delegated OC to plan the plays and call the plays both before the game and during the game"

It's really simple: If we fire both Miles AND Crowton at year end, we will have gotten rid of the right one.

Did you not see us trying to establish an identity last year???
I don't like our Offense at all....but I think it's mainly because we don't have confidence in our QB to run GC's offense like he's like to do it.
So
Fire Crowton and get someone in here who can develop our offense and fit it to who our signal caller is at that time.

The offense is limited probably by Les, and that is part of the problem. If you notice, most of the plays are exactly the same, just out of slightly different formations.
Quick passes to the wings, the option, some traps, maybe a counter, and the end around to Shepard. It's pretty easy to defend.
Sad thing is despite the fact its only a handful of the same plays, we still suck at them.

read an article, Texas Monthly maybe, anyway Leach only had like a dozen plays in the playbook at TT.
ran the same stuff over and over...just out off different formations.

Here's the difference that your point ignores. They actually got good at those dozen or so plays.
LSU may have a dozen and still sucks at executing them.
I think I actually read some people on here that claimed Miles has the team actually practice new plays all week rather than the ones they use in the games only to never use the plays they actually practiced.
I doubt it's true, but sadly it wouldn't be that surprising if it was.

IMO, The reason we see Miles so involved with the offense this year is because of the product that Crowton has put on the field the last 2 years. It's a mistake, but it is what it is.
The biggest mistake Miles made was allowing Crowton to install his "helter skelter" version of the spread offense after the 2007 season. In 2007, Miles had Crowton run the Jimbo/Monken pro-style offensive scheme with elements of his spread sprinkled in. The offense we saw in 2007 was very similar to types of offenses that Miles ran at OSU (Monken involved then also).
What we saw last year was the complete Crowton spread offense. It is a fact that Crowton changed the OL blocking schemes in 2009. We saw the results from that.
Miles should have let Crowton go last year, hired Steve Logan (OC/QB) and moved the LSU offense back to more of a pro-style offense.

Miles makes the major decisions on offense. Crowton is a yes man, Jimbo wasn't. Miles needs to take his arse up north.

I agree with you ruger. I've read and am very familiar with the "Crowton trend", but this offense is all Miles. Ever seen his quarterback's stats during his last year at OSU?
Here are the per game average stats for Donovan Woods in 2004:
passing: 8 of 15 for 135 yds
rushing 10 attempts for 36 yds
1 total TD/game
Numbers look familiar? They are what Jefferson's numbers would look like if they could get him another 35 yds/game passing and 10 more yds/game rushing.

I think what MIles was doing was taking the blame for the offense. He is the head coach and he had the balls to say it falls on my shoulders.
