Love hearing things like this.

quote:

This was the greatest experience of my life. Stayed with a friend's father who is a WV fan in Laplace, about 30 minutes from Baton Rouge. Friday night on Bourbon Street every other person was wearing blue and gold. Had Let's Go Mountaineers going from the balcony to the street at every bar. Got to their tailgate (his neighbors are diehard LSU fans) under the big oak tree across from the baseball field around 8:30 AM on Saturday and was overwhelmed with the atmosphere. Never seen anything like it. Tents every 5 feet, all with plasma tvs, satellites, speakers, dj's at every couple tents, drinking games everywhere, barbecue and jambalaya like I couldn't imagine. GOT A DJ TO PLAY COUNTRY ROADS. Walked around the stadium, saw the tiger habitat (tiger was lazy and laying in the shade like I would have liked to!), saw their band march into the stadium. I must've been called tiger bait 25 times and was given beer, shots, and a bowl of food each time. Physically I couldn't eat or drink anymore by the time the game came along. Friendliest people I've ever met. Many said they were looking forward to coming to Morgantown next Sept. 24th and I can't wait to show them the same hospitality. I will say that we need to step our tailgating game up next year for this game or they'll laugh at us.. Stadium was enormous and loud is an understatement. Sold alligator sausage at the game, and no I didn't eat any. I'm now in love with the SEC and can only hope that we end up there when the Big East dissolves.

I love being a Tiger!

one thing that surprised me was most people in New Orleans were not LSU fans. They were 10000% rabid Saints fans but most people that we talked to said they hoped we beat the snot out of LSU.

The LSU/Saints rivalry is so retarded. And most of it comes from Saints fans.

LSU fans have been all kind of stupid about this one. Apparently sloppy circles and fast moving colors makes a band better.

they had to be around fans who think the band is just playing random shite during the game.. no way they were around fans knowledgeable about what the band does, and how they interact with the fans..

There is no rivalry between LSU and the Saints. I'm diehard Saints and LSU fan. They probably just ran into some douchebag Tulane fans in New Orleans.

this is so stupid, the majority of people from New Orleans are LSU fans, LSu football gets more sports radio talk here than every team besides the Saints

Yea the LSU/Saints rivalry is ridiculous and was definitely started by New Orleans people IMO. Every Baton Rouge person I know (myself included) is a bigtime Saints fan.

Also, those comments sound about right. I've brought friends from every fanbase under the sun to LSU games and they're always astounded at the treatment of away fans.

I think the hate comes from people who sit in the student section (idiots) and I've also seen visiting LSU fans who try to make their presence known a little too much when we're at away games.

I'm very happy to read the posts at the WVU link. (That does kind of suck that we were announcing their name wrong.) It speaks very well of the great people of the great state of Louisiana and of LSU fans, in general!

Did anyone else notice that at the BlueGoldNews website that there is a tab to "Send Private Message" beside the handle of each person who posts a comment. TD ought to look into doing that too, though I bet a few private exchanges here could get pretty dad gum ugly!
