Not sure she's "overrated." She gets a lot of parts because she's hot, but I don't hear a lot of people talk about what a great actress they think she is.

That guy from that one movie.

Tom Cruise is absolute garbage and I hope he and Katie Holmes have albino children.
Also ol boy in the Hangover that is in all the Rom Coms now, I'm drawing a blank on the name... Him. Bradley something.
Jake Gyllenhall as an action star. Not buying that at all.

Denzel is really good at playing Denzel, and not much else

Lol.
I agree with Natalie Portman. I don't think she ever sounds sincere when delivering lines.

quote:Now I'll say that Batman Begins and the Dark Knight weren't exactly the greatest acting roles he has portrayed but I completely disagree with you. Just for starters:
Christian Bale
Empire of the Sun
The Machinist (when way beyond the call of duty for this role)
American Psycho (good, but not my favorite)
Reign of Fire
3:10 to Yuma
Public Enemies
and (in production)
The Fighter (really looking forward to this one after seeing the trailer)
I also disagree with Natalie Portman. Although the Star Wars movies did hurt her a bit, she has been in some good movies:
The Darjeeling Limited
V for Vendetta
Garden State
Mars Attacks! (just kidding about this one, but I just remembered she was in it)
Heat
Now as for overrated actors, I would have to go with
Vince Vaughn
Ben Affleck (although I do want to see The Town)
Shia laBeouf
Jennifer Aniston
George Clooney (although he hasn't been in much lately)
I also agree with Tom Cruise wholeheartedly. He has been unbearably bad since the original Mission: Impossible.

Tom Hanks
Although he was horrible in those two abominations The DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons.

He was actually good in those movies. They just weren't well-written.

Nicolas Cage.
He always seems over the top. That accent in Con Air... AWFUL

Is obviously not overrated, since people complain about him as much as they do Keanu Reeves.

Also, I think Nic Cage is evenly rated. Most people think he isn't very good and he surprises everyone once a blue moon. Lord of War, the first National Treasure was alright, The Rock, Gone in Sixty Seconds was just meh, Adaptation was decent, but they are all just par movies at best in my opinion. Theres also Raising Arizone. But like I said, he makes par movies so I think he is evenly rated as a par actor.

I read the books too, and I didn't understand the backlash regarding him as Langdon. I didn't think he was miscast at all.
It's not like Langdon was some suave James Bond figure in the books. He's highly intelligent and knows his stuff, but he's also slightly goofy like most high-minded academics.

quote:Yea I got the same mental picture of Langdon from the books, but for example in the DaVinci Code, it just seems that half the time was spent with him acting like he had no clue what the hell was going on.

In the books he seemed to be the one with all the answers. In the movie I felt like I Keanu Reeves had written some of his lines. "What?" "Huh?" Thats all that really got to me. Oh, and the end of the first movie was retarded.

your list sucks, IMO
Bale and Portman are good, and Johansson is solid.
Shia LeBeouf is freaking terrible, and I frequently hear him mentioned in this generation's elite.
