Russell Shepard is a wonderful ambassador for LSU

I can't say it enough: This young man is impressive- a winner both on and off the field. How can you not root for him? Total class.
THIS is what recruiting high character players brings to the table: Leadership by example.
"Last week Russell Shepard promised Tiger fan Bishop Mikaelian he would give her a ball when he scored a touchdown. Shepard ran for a 30-yard TD at Vanderbilt, and this week he kept his promise to Bishop."

Great ambassador. This kind of stuff brings tears to my eyes.

During warm ups I saw him talking to the visiting recruits in the end zone. He is a great kid.

Completely off topic, but I guess Shepard could have played OL back in the day with Miles.

IMO, Russell Shepard and Jason Heyward are the epitome of how high profile athletes should act. Both have been hyped up as the best at their respective sports, yet have poise and class that is not matched by any other athlete. Shepard is one of the best things to happen to not only LSU on the football field and recruiting, but also how a young man should act and treat others.

From the second he signed with LSU to now, he has nothing but promote LSU. I am enjoying his want to win very much.

FIFY, but I agree 1000000% with you. He recruited kids before he even enrolled at LSU. He bleeds purple and gold.

RS is a good player (understatement, I know) and a good character.
You will not see this kid in any kind of trouble -- he'll graduate and he'll always be a great representative for LSU.
Get him in the open, get him the ball and let him catch it... they won't catch him after that.
We'll see this play out this year and next -- he's 3 games in to being a WR -- great talent, but like anybody - he's not polished yet... he'll make us all proud on the field time and time again.

Great post.. awesome guy. I had a class with him last year I guess.. heard me listening to Currency and started a conversation with me. Real friendly and well spoken, even when the cameras aren't on. Great guy that you love to see succeed.

Great kid. Somebody did a phenomenal job raising him. I know some of you don't like adults wearing jerseys, but I would be proud to wear a #10 jersey in public.
