MSU rushed for 152 yards and passed for 116 for a total of 268 yards, compared to LSU's 264 yards of total offense.

This won't get us very far as the season goes on.

When did you declare this an "either/or" proposition? I missed that memo.

Just about every time we got the ball, it was on a short field!!! Hard to get 300-400 yards total offense with that great of field position each time- here is an idea: geaux find something else to bitch about, or better yet GTFO!!!

You realize that even if we had converted on TD's instead of FG's some of the time, we still would have barely had 300 yards? How cool would that have been....if we had converted TD's 3 times that we settled for FG's, we would have had 41 points and still under 300 yards.

The low number just means there weren't a lot of big plays. It happens. Enjoy the journey. Stop and smell the roses. It will be ok.

We scored points on every drive (I think) through the 3rd quarter and beginning of the 4th. Granted, it sucks that we had to kick 5 field goals, but I also think Crowton's play calling sucked wind in the red zone last night. Had a couple of those field goals been TD's, nobody would be complaining one bit about yardage. We had great field position most of the night, that contributed to not a lot of yardage. The int's and where they happened gave us that short field many times.

I wasn't talking about yardage. I was talking about our inability to score given the short side of the field. What would the score have been if MSU had punted to us instead of turning the ball over on their side of the field so many times? We would have the same amount of yardage and 15 less points

We won by 22 points, ran much better than all last year, played conservatve, because jerks like you have made beating up JJ a national media issue, and are showing improvment. I do agree that Crowton needs to open it up more with downfield passing - providing Shep can catch the ball.

29-7, did you by chance pay any attention to the really cool thing called the scoreboard?

Agreed. I am tickled LSU won the game - but LSU should have have higher aspirations than just beating Miss State. To reach those expectations, LSU has to beat Alabama and / or Florida. LSU can not beat either of those teams with the offensice production shown so far. When your FG kicker gets the offensive MVP vs Miss State - it doesn't give teams like Alabama and Florida much to have to be prepared for.

You don't need to call the guy a 'jerk' just because he is pointing out difficulties with our offense. As to JJ, are you saying he is above any criticism? He is a Junior, has played since his Freshman year, but even still, we are not expecting an all-SEC year, but get tired of all those 'he has improved' threads, as opposed to showing consistent play at the QB position. The passing game has almost been non-existent this year, & must get better if we plan on continuing to win.

I would rather score points and win games. But even with a short field all night we still only scored two touchdowns. It is always better to finish drives with 7 than to repeatedly stall and get 3. But I also agree that 3 is better than nothing.

I am satisfied with wins. It is just apparent that we are so freaking close to being the best in the country. It is also frustrating that the issues which hold us back can't seem to be corrected.

Our average starting field position last night was around the MSU 47 yardline. If we were to score 7 TDs, then the most amount of yards we could get from that field position is 329 yards. ToP is also limited by this. I'm more worried about our ability to score TDs in the redzone.

With that being said, our offense does have a lot of work to do.
