"After two games in the season, LSU has played 17 true freshman and 9 redshirt freshmen with most of the true freshmen playing on special teams." -Who are they?
(does anyone have a list)

No way 17 true freshmen have played already. I think it's more likely it was 9 Redshirt Freshman and 8 True Freshmen or vice versa. My stab at the True Freshmen:
Mathieu
Simon
Vinson
Reid
Ware
Blue
Boone
Wright
Welter?
Muncie?

With all the attention we got with not having a scholarship for Porter, I thought everyone knew our entire recruiting class of 27 got cleared.

Copied from Game Notes at LSUSPORTS.net (a great place to get answers to many questions, and only takes a few seconds)
"Youth Movement
LSU played a total of 18 first-time players, including nine true freshmen, in the season-opening win over North Carolina.
The nine true freshmen were the most to play in a season-opener under Miles and it’s the most to see action in a singleseason
since 2006 when 10 true freshmen played for the Tigers. The breakdown of first-time players for the Tigers against
North Carolina was: 9 true freshmen, 8 redshirt freshmen and one junior college transfer. Of the 18 first-timers, 11 were
used on defense. The following is a look at the true freshmen who have played during Miles’ five-plus years at LSU:
Year True Freshmen
2005 LB Darry Beckwith (LB) and RB Steven Korte
2006 WR/RS Trindon Holliday, RB Charles Scott, DB Danny McCray, LB Jacob Cutrera,
LB Perry Riley, TE Richard Dickson, WR Chris Mitchell, WR Jared Mitchell,
DT Al Woods, and RB Keiland Williams.
2007 PK Josh Jasper, PK Andrew Crutchfield, LT Jarvis Jones, RT Joseph Barksdale,
WR Terrance Toliver, DB Chad Jones, DT Drake Nevis.
2008 CB Patrick Peterson, CB Brandon Taylor, LB Ryan Baker, DB Karnell Hatcher,
OT Greg Shaw, WR Deangelo Peterson, QB Jordan Jefferson, DB Derrick Bryant
2009 WR Rueben Randle, S Craig Loston, DT Josh Downs, CB Morris Claiborne,
QB/WR Russell Shepard, FB Dominique Allen
2010 RB Alfred Blue, WR Kadron Boone, CB Tyrann Mathieu, FB Connor Neighbors,
S Eric Reid, DB Tharold Simon, S Ronnie Vinson, RB Spencer Ware, WR Spencer WrightMore On the Youth Movement – LSU Has Used 11 First-Time Starters in 2010
In addition to the 18 first-time players for the Tigers last week vs. North Carolina, LSU also had eight players start a college
game for the time. LSU used 5 first-time starters on defense and three on offense. The Tigers followed that with another
three first-time starters against Vanderbilt. Here’s a look at LSU’s first-time starters this year:
Game First-Time Starters
North Carolina RG Will Blackwell, RT Alex Hurst, TE Chase Clement, DE Kendrick Adams, DE Sam
Montgomery, SLB Stefoin Francois, WLB Lamin Barrow,
CB Morris Claiborne
Vanderbilt LB Ryan Baker, RG Josh Williford, S Craig Loston"

Understand. Just attempting to clarify the OP question of 17 true freshman having already played. The answer is 18 first time players, not true freshmen. Thanks.
