While many chalk LM's decision up as ignorance or poor coaching, I think its not as simple. Was LM concerned about hurting his confidence? It had to be. All we heard over the summer was how JJ was taking affirmative steps to be the team leader. What a crushing blow it would be to be pulled after 1 1/2 games.

I guess LM is trying to walk a fine line here. If he pulls JJ, JJ will likely be shot confidence-wise. If JL does not pan out, a real risk in that happening, then you have two QB's who have no confidence and your season really spirals down hill. Those are the horns of the dilemma he's on and he's chose, to date, to play it very safe.

My Take: He won't have the luxury of playing crappy teams for long. Given JJ's performance (overthrows, underthrows, not hitting WR in stride, etc), LM needs to make a decision, and fast. We now know JJ is not the answer, the unknown of JL and perhaps a confidence-less JJ is worth the risk, in my book.

I agree. This is more complicated then it seems, because Jefferson, imo, will be done if he is benched. So I say give him one more start vs. Mississippi state. If he is still struggling at halftime, put Lee in to start the second half.

I think JL has more "want" and more passing talent..

Change nothing, expect the same result!

If JJ is "done" if LM benches him, why should he be starting now? I'm not saying bench JJ, but I do challenge his leadership and decision-making skills. Pick 6 may have thrown a ton of int's in 2008, but he was a freshman. At this point, 2 QB system needs to be established.

Nope. 2 offensive series. If shite is as bad as last week, pull his arse. If it's mediocre let him go a little longer and re-evaluate.

Do you think Spurrier would still be playing him? Or even Saban? I don't buy this "it'll damage his confidence" crap. He knows he is stinking up the joint. He either is tough enough and smart enough or not.

Hes gonna start Miss St game without a question, they have put way to much time and effort into his development (or lack there of). If he plays average he wont touch the bench, unless LSU is down 10 +.

When JJ Continues to struggle the coaches will be forced to used JLee. It will be like his freshmen year when they through he to the wolfs.. I say they use both QB's and let them compete for the starting roll.

Either way I beleive Jarrett Lee will see more action in the Miss.State game. Les Miles will let JJ start but he will not have the luxery of three quaters before he is replaced if he continues to struggle.

By Les stating JJ is the starter Miss State has to prepare for JJ. If Jarrett Lee is a bteer passer it will be an advantage for LSU to either start Lee as the surprise starter on Saturday or bring him into the game after a quater as long as the score is not out of hand.

I'm not advocating one thing or another. I think Miles is in a real tough position. But if the premise is that

quote:

f he pulls JJ, JJ will likely be shot confidence-wise

then he probably isn't much of a leader to begin with. J. Lee has been in the same situation and has toughed it out. Why should we expect anything less from Jefferson?

Had so much high expectations for JJ sucks to see him pulled. But look at the bigger picture , I want to see wins but I want to see a qb that compliments our elite core of wr

Another view is that maybe Les didn't want to pull him to avoid the criticism of wasting an entire year on him.

In either case, if we suck it up on offense for 3 quarters, we will lose to Moo St.

I am not trashing JJ, but he is not a leader, the guys on the team just kept shaking their head at JJ's play. I am not saying JL is a passer but he
can hand the ball off quickly and the running backs
can rip off long runs. I just wish we would put all
running back in the game and JL at QB and they would just wear the other teams defense down. THAT is only my opinion.

Change without Controversy, not easy by any means.

If Jefferson is done because he was sat for one game, but Lee wasn't done after 2008 then that tells you all you need to know about their mental make up and toughness.

NW,

I agree. LSU's o-line is vastly improved even with the injury to blackwell. We showed we can run the ball with the stallions we have at RB against a decent run-defense. RUN-N-GUN, BABY!

This. If JJ is just going to sit on the bench and sulk and cry after a little adversity then that's not the kind of person we want leading our team. JLee was hated by all LSU fans for 2 years and here he is still trying to get on the field in the purple and gold. He had every excuse to go somewhere else after 2008 with as bad as he played and as promising as the QB position looked after the 2009 recruiting class. Time to give him another chance. Let's face it, it CAN'T hurt anything. I'm tired of watching an offense ranked in the triple digits!!!
