He may be the best we have. I'm not saying Lee would definitely get better results. We just don't know.

But what is apparent after watching him start 16 or so games is he is severely limited.

He is basically a one-read passer. He cannot by time calmly in the pocket and adjust to another receiver on the other side of the field.

He cannot scramble within the pocket to buy time and find a receiver down field. Its just tuck and run if the first guy isn't open.

I like his physical tools but its clear he doesn't have the intangibles that you need threaten defenses. This along with the fundamental structure of our offense is limiting him.

He is not an option QB or even a "running" QB, yet Crowton continues to set him up to fail by forcing several option plays a game. A lot of this is not JJ's fault. He's got way more potential than the coaches have brought out in him.

150 passing yards against 2nd and 3rd teamsers is horrendous no matter what league you are in. It is what it is.

50 of those came on one play (very nice throw). So on 20 attempts he had 100 yards. Nobody is shaking in their boots over that one.

I say if he's the started, let the hair go with the hide and gun the football. We need to be a throwing team (quick throws, more screens and intermediate routes to get the ball in Randle, Toliver, and Shepards hands) because our best advantage is on the outside with the receivers we have. Put in on Jefferson's shoulders and see if he can do it.

The alternative is mediocrity at best. Our defense is not good enough to rely on and our running game is pedestrian. Let Jefferson sink or swim, but get rid of the half arse conservative one-hand tied behind our back crap that Crowton calls an offense.

I agree...we are still stuck in 2008, with the pick-6 debacle still controlling our offensive philosophy.

Yet Les has NOT recruited a bigtime QB...there should be one starting out there now! This is LSU, not La Tech!

When you have a HUGE lead at halftime and with 10 minutes to go in the game.. you don't usually pass much. You just grind the clock out and finish the game off.

We are not Bama. We don't have the hogs up front or the horses in the rear to grind out 2 quarters of clock on the ground. Even aside from the fumbles, our running game is not good ( aside from the occasional reverse to Shepard)

Agreed. JJ gives it his all, can't fault him there. I feel he has reached his potential already, what you see is what you get and all you will ever get. This has led to a watered down offensive philosophy to fit his abilities. I am not awaiting his coming out party, I feel as though he has shown his best already and this is what we will have to deal with for the remainder of his eligibility.

He did? Where is he now? Playing pro baseball and Miles knew that going in! Why arent the 4 and 5 star QBs knocking the door to play for LSU? It is because of Miles and Crowton!

How dare you post this .GIF that clearly shows Jordan Jefferson progressing in his reads, looking off the safety, then stepping up into the pocket to deliver a strike 55 yards downfield for a touchdown.

JJ can't do these things!!! The NCAA should investigate who was really playing quarterback during that snap.

it was working pretty good until we had a rushing TD called back with 11 minutes to go in the game. we were going up by 27-28 points.

we had 162 rushing yards with 4 fumbles lost. take those away and i'd bet we're EASILY over 200 yards rushing against a very good front 7 for UNC. our rushing attack was pretty strong

for some reason others cant seem to grasp how atrocious this stat really is....

Teams have pretty much 0 respect with regards to LSU beating them deep. The Randle TD was great, but if I was Butch Davis id have just thought "ok they wont try that again"

There is NO WAY our WR were locked down for 4 quarters against a 2nd team secondary, especially Tolliver (his lack of targets is inexcusable IMO)

teams with a 20 point lead in the 4th quarter do not throw the ball

This post should go in a thread bashing our offensive coordinator. It's not the fault of our QB who doesn't have audible or personnel authority.

It's seriously like you guys are retarded. I understand your frustration that we almost blew the game, but is it really that hard for you all to grasp that Jordan Jefferson played very well given the options he was provided with by Crowton?

I think this is true. Some of his problems come from the fact that he is not particularly good at what the coaches want to run.

I agree that he is not the kind of guy to scramble and buy time to find the open guy. In truth, I wish he would tuck and run more, if he would make the decision a bit more quickly. If the guy is not open, then get upfield. Don't wait. Don't hold it. Don't run backwards. Of course, this kind of strategy might limit slow developing routes, but a) we're not doing a very good job with it anyway and b) it would eliminate the sack/intentional grounding/scrambling in no man's land scenario that seems to happen a couple of times a game.

Thatd be good if we had Bamas 0-line, coupled with a Heisman trophy winning RB and the best backup in the nation

Would you be referring to the last drive before half with 1:06 remaining from our 30.

I think most coaches would have used this opportunity with a 20 pt. lead against an out-manned defense to practice the 2 minute drill.

Our 2 minute drill consisted of two passes completed shorter than 5 yards downfield, and our last TO used 6-7 seconds too late.

We had 3 drives in the second half end on 3rd down passing situations with a COMPLETED pass. Not only does the route exist, it exists WITH the PRIMARY receiver, AND the QB throws it to him.

Go watch Boise St. with one minute left last night. All passes beyond the first down marker or INC. I would think that after all the fourth quarter close calls from the last two seasons, that we might have spent some time on critical clock managed drives.

Our team has NO sense of awareness or direction and will have to receive it from divine guidance. Superior athletes will have to make superior plays all the time, because they are not put in the best position to win.

Agree with most of this to the fullest. He may be our best qb, but at the same time can only look for 1 wr then either starts scrambling while looking for checkoff or just flat takes off running.

If these are his limitations then he needs to be better coached on reading defenses presnap to find a receiver that is likely to beat the coverage presented on the given play. Flynn I thought was great at this b/c he also had a tendency to lock on to 1 receiver

I blame Crowton equally (or whoever is calling the plays). However, you think the starting QB has 0 audible authority, or cant look off his 1st read (who's usually 3-4 yards out)?

I havent said 1 time since Saturday that JJ played badly.
