hope you don't plan on using that in a self defense situation cause your going to lose.... don't do it. i sold guns while in college, alot of guns.... don't even think about it. when it breaks most gunsmiths won't even work on it. it's total crap

I have never even held one, but this is what I have heard. They go bang. That's it. They are as ugly as step children and are cheaply made, but they go bang when you pull the trigger.

True Saturday night special.

I was at the range once and a guy had one. It was for a CCW class or something. It had some weird firing pin indicator that fell out when he shot it.

HP handguns are junk. Their carbines have established a decent reputation though. I didn't know Cabelas sold the handguns, I worked at their gun counter for 8 months until May of this year and we never had any

Hi points are pretty much shite. Take the $199 and go buy a really nice aluminum baseball bat and you'd be much better off. There was a dumbass I used to work with that bought one and said it was better than my glock 30. I was taking a look at it and was wondering "how the frick do you field strip this piece of shite". Unlike quality handguns you have to pound out pins to take down the slide. I would never consider owning one of these. Here is a video of your typical hi point owner demonstrating field stripping with an improvised screw driver tool.

I call them throw down guns. As soon as it breaks while you are shooting it you just throw it on the ground where you are standing and walk away.

Keep saving your lunch money and buy an XD or a Sig Pro.

Thanks for the advice, but I wasn't saving for a Hi-Point. I just happened to come across these guns on Cabelas website. I think my next hand gun will be a Kel Tech 9mm or .380... Looking for something small.

The aren't much to look at but I have never had one jam. Two guys I brought to our old camp had them in .45acp I don't know if I would use one as my primary defense gun but if you are just looking for a cheap starter pistol or a something inexpensive to beat around then it will fit the bill.

I bought one just to have some fun at the range. Not very good quality. Not accurate at all.

I have one of their 995 carbines. I changed out the stock and added a vertical fore grip and it looks and feels much better. Looks like a CX4 Storm now.

I've got the carbine in .40 and its a fun gun, but like most have said I wouldn't trust it in a serious situation. I was looking at getting an AK when I bought this one. I was in college and really didnt want to spend the 350 for the AK but how I wish I would have now.
