I'm staying downtown, but I plan to be on the west side of S.A. tomorrow and am looking for choices ...

On another note ... Pappasito's in S.A. was jammed packed tonight. Apparently Wednesday night is 1/2 off fajitas ... minimum 1.5 hour wait ... no thanks.

I had a great meal at Aldaco's Stone Oak in June. Great food, great margaritas and an incredible view.

If you go, order "the Perfect Margarita". Fresh squeezed lime juice, Patron silver and cointreau. NO sweet and sour.

Not a restaurant, but instead a cherished memory from working in S.A.: find a good fruteria. Fruteria Tres Hermanos on West Ave, north of I-10 was my choice for a local "no habla Ingles" fruit stand: ice-cold chunks of fruit, splashed with lime juice and covered with cayenne-looking Mexican ground pepper. Mmmm.

LaFagota. Have a michelada.

There is a great mexican place in the central market across from the Alamo.

And you know what Davey Crockett said to Daniel Boone when he peeked his eyes over the wall of the Alamo?

Didn't think so. He said "Hey Davey....who called for all the landscapers."

Acenar on River Walk was good when I was there a year ago. I got the huitlacoche enchiladas and the duck and they were great.

It was Jim Bowie.

But Daniel Boone was a man.

Just got back from SA and this and Boudro's were both solid recommendations. Had the chicken-fried ribeye at Boudro's and it was pretty damn good, as was the guacamole made table-side. Worst thing was having all those greenheads paddling around within reach-for some reason, it made me order the duck appetizer.
