Went there last night for the first time and I have to say I was really impressed. I had the famous Luke burger and was thoroughly happy with it. I forget the brand of bacon that was mentioned on the menu (used on the burger), but whatever it was it was probably the best I've ever had. It had the perfect amount of hickory smoke and sweetness to it.

The wife had their vegetarian special, which she enjoyed.

All in all, a pretty good experience, and if you include 1 mint julep our total bill was only about $50.

Its a wonderful place and the burger is killer but please go beyond that. The charcuterie, the turines and pates are exceptional and they have a great mid range wine list which they serve in water glasses.

Indeed, they have a pretty good menu. I love the matzo ball soup. The rabbit pate is gallon size. The choucroute garne is decadent. They do a cool little onion tart as well.

Allen Benton's Bacon

might be the best bacon i've ever tasted. The BLT and the shrimp and grits are both excellent at Luke.

Luke......

have only been once...but had a great meal. got the duck and rabbit liver pate [the pickled watermelon rinds that come with it are great], the pressed pork sandwich [yum!], and the tarte flambee or flammenkuchen [a bit too greasy and heavy for my taste].

the service was a little off but the meal was fantastic.

One of my favorite restaurants that isn't overly expensive. I enjoy the gateau basque for dessert.

Went there for brunch about a month ago.

Had the:
rabbit/duck pate
flamenkuche
Luke burger
Shrimp Farci
moules et frites
chicken 'n waffles w/ mayhaw syzzurp

I think my favorite of all was the pate. I liked everything though.

I ate there once with a group and 3 of us got extremely sick. I liked my food a lot when I was eating it, but got so sick that I was miserable. It makes me afraid to go back.

Did you have oysters? Was it this spring?

No and no. It was not this past January but the one before. It was the night of the Eagles concert.
I had the crabmeat ravioli, tried their fries, and a creme brulee for dessert.
I'm not sure what it was that made 3 of us sick.. might have just been coincidental since everyone raves about this place. But I remember being miserable all night.

Hmmm...Just wondering because they had that Norovirus string running through the oysters this spring and Luke was getting oysters from one of the oyster beds that got hit with it.

Absolute ripoff on that front. I wish I would have known. I've noticed over time that ravioli in any upscale restaurant comes with like 4 small pieces. I've gotten to the point where I ask the server before ordering to avoid that. But I figured at a moderately priced place like Luke in a city like NOLA, my ravioli would be a generous serving. It wasn't.

Ohh. Nah, it was 2 January's ago and I got crab. I honestly would love to give the place another try, but that night was a flop for sure.

My wife also ordered the ravioli when we went two weekends ago for our anniversary. It didn't even fill her up! I thought it was a rip off.

My entree on the other hand was huge and well worth the price. I forgot what it was called (the one with the pork shin). I couldn't even finish it.

Exactly my sentiments. And let me say.. I get full SO easily.
Lesson learned: Don't order ravioli at restaurants unless I know for certain it's a normal portion.

It's just best to stay with the ol' burger and fries. I found out the hard way.

Do it. They serve some very cool food without breaking the bank that and has some neat twists. Too many things I've had that were very good so it's hard to even recommend just a thing or two.
