..."Then check Les' contract. It has a guaranteed rollover for 100 percent of the remaining salary. If Miles is axed at the end of this season, LSU would owe him between $14-$15 million. Alleva still has a ways to go to make that number manageable. That rollover, which wasn't renewed the past two seasons, would still have four years to run after this season."

Aren't we much smarter and more prudent to put heart and soul behind Les Miles, for the benefit of the players, the University, and the Extremely Great State of Lousiana, especially in the wake of the grisly oil spill and Obama's captious moraturium? Even if Coach Miles' distinctive use of the English language involves doozies like the following statement he uttered today? "Your whole life you have been dealing from the underling and suddenly there is an opportunity.” "Dealing from the Underling"?! Isn't that a now defunct San Francisco Grunge Band?

LSU will not have to pay Miles $14-$15,000,000. They will make an offer and he will accept it whatever it is

Really? Whatever it is? I suspect Les and Agent have heard of things called Lawyers

"Coach for life", that's what I'm hearing.

IF Michigan calls, Les will answer this time and LSU no pay.
So Les is just going to leave millions and millions and millions on table if Dear Ole Michigan calls?
Les might leave f he can get a Houston Nutt situation but things would have to fall perfectly for that

I'm not saying he should or shouldn't be fired, but that is simply not correct.

Les coined a phrase there.
Dooley is the opposite.
I really like Dooley. I was just watching his SEC press conference.
If you guys run Les Miles off, I would like Dooley if he would come. He has a law degree and is saying all the right things.
Moms will love him, in his nationwide search for recruits.
I suppose you guys think you will get someone better, someone tried and true, but Dooley looks like the real deal to me.
He is probably 3 or 4 years away though.
Meanwhile, Les will be gathering in the best crop of recruits in a long time. If Les gets 2 out of 3 of the remaining uncommitted high end Louisiana linemen, to go with what he already got, LSU will be set at line play with 4 out of 5 of the best linemen in this 2011 class.
I like Les and I understand his use of language.

i could not agree with you more. guy is extremely articulate, fluid and likeable. great pedigree and background. played for billy henderson at clarke central high school in athens. henderson is a freakin ga high school legend. we know who his dad is. played under george welch at uva. law degree. saban pedigree. out coached leslie with a rag tag bunch of recruiting afterthoughts. if futures were based on coaches at the podium, watch out for tenn. the guy is and will be a winner. how jealous i am to see a team without a baffoon at the podium. that goes for leslie and kiffy. tenn should be proud of their choice, and will be in time.

Let's see if Dooley can win SEC football games before we canonize him, ok?

Me too. But then I have had the advantage of NOT being educated in Louisiana.

Yeah, Dooley is badass. Managed to take Tech to a 17-20 record in 3 years, including 4-8 last year. Amazing turnaround considering Tech went 16-20 the 3 years before he got there. He brought them back from the abyss
If Derek Dooley was named Derek McWilliams, he wouldn't have a prayer of being a HC in the SEC, and you know it.

I think Dooley is a stand up guy. However, UT will like him less when he goes 4-8. Just win baby.

Wow, it must have been brutal for the negaTigers to read that article...
But as they say, 'the truth hurts!'

He's owed $7.502M if he's fired after this season genius. He didn't get the rollovers the past 2 seasons and clearly stated that according to some links people put up earlier. Check your facts before you come up hear spouting shite.

me too. I don't get where some folks find him so hard to understand. He does sometimes use big words for the average football fan and sometimes expresses complex thoughts, but overall he does have a down home simple friendly manner about him.

Here is what needs to be weighed.
And it is being weighed.
How much will it cost to get rid of Miles?
How much will a new hire get them in revenue from donations and other revenue streams?
How much will it cost them to keep Miles if he continues to coach the way he has been from lost donations and decreased revenues?
Because he recruits consistently very highly rated players and often gets among the top classes in the country, but the team isn't playing up to that level.
So to say that with this new set of recruits which are very highly rated, will put him over the edge when previously highly rated recruits didn't is not likely to be the case.
If it makes financial sense to keep miles, they will. If it would make sense to let him go, they will.
It all comes down to money.
