I read that article and I just dont believe that Houston Texans are worth more than the Boston Red Sox on the open market. I am assuming they are saying the Texans are worth so much because of how much they paid for the expansion franchise a few years ago.

Some of you people are really stupid.

NFL money > baseball money
Posted on 7/23/10 at 12:57 am to SlowFlowPro
Yeah I know that is the idea, but the thought that the Texans are worth more than the Red Sox makes me want to vomit

yeah, i dont know how they gauge value, but it is even harder to believe Houston is one o the top 4-5 most valuable franchises in the NFL, much less all of sports
unless they gauge owners assets or something and bob mcnair is filthy rich

Boston is a shithole full of people who would frick a Kennedy. Houston is a shithole full of minorities.

the texans do have a beastly stadium that is worth a lot and generates a ton of revenue
Posted on 7/23/10 at 1:05 am to SlowFlowPro
Seriously the NFL is fricking retarded if the Texans are truly worth that much, we should start an investment group to get a team back in LA with a new stadium, that team would be worth billions
Posted on 7/23/10 at 1:06 am to schlow mo
people in la don't go to football games on the reg and to build a stadium in LA would cost almost a bil i'd guess

True, but a team like the Red Sox draw 2 million people a year, plus postseason generally. And has to be one of the top 2-3 teams in baseball as far as merchandise.
Texans prob draw, what, a half a million a year? maybe a little more?
i dont have the numbers in front of me, and I know NFL has a salary cap, but the Sox payroll is prob double what the Texans is.

Texans payroll is 121 mill, Red Sox is 160 mill
I guess I am just not seeing how they are worth more.
Baseball has 81 home games, plus whatever postseason and NFL has 8 home games.

ehh closer than i thought.
prob has something to do with revenue sharing of some sort.
Posted on 7/23/10 at 1:15 am to Lester Earl
the biggest revenue NFL teams make is their shared national tv deal
but the sox have their own network, right?

I don't know how they came up with there number but there is no way in hell the Cowboys make as much $ as the Yankees in ticket sales, merchandise, or TV money.

not surprising, if you add that stadium to the Cowboys' list of assets they are bound to shoot up the list
