So I'm guessing Nevis, Downs, Davenport and I don't know the 4th guy. I heard brockers had bulked up and was moving inside but I might be mistaken
Can one of you tell me the top 4 and their weight?

Nevis-290
Davenport-320
Brockers-290
Levingston-275
Downs-280
Copeland-290
Johnson-280
**Brockers, Downs and Copeland will likely get much bigger before they're done.
Not a humongous group but the references to small seem a bit retarded.

In the modern college game, anything below 285 makes you wonder a little, but only one guy on the list was 275, which is probably too small unless he is as fast as a rabbit and strong as an ox.
So I would say that worries about size might be a bit over-stated.
The real question is, can they TACKLE?

what is the status of davenport? Is he fully healthy and competing for the rotation?

Indeed. By the first game Brockers may be pushing a lean-looking 300 fwiw.

Both Chad Lavalais and Glenn Dorsey played at less than 300 and they were able to get a bit of a push toward the QB.

Two good questions waiting to be answered. However in the SEC stopping the run is of paramount importance. With the Tigers' defensive backfield, even a moderate pass rush will be successful. If the middle holds their on, the new and improved defensive ends hold the keys to sacks and pressure. I firmly believe the defense will be better than last year, which will make them awful good if it happens. Will the offense be helping the defense out, may be the most important question of all.

They might not be small,..lighter would be a better term...going against 325 or more will be a challenge....just saying,..hope they are stronger....

Both above 290 though. As long as Downs and Pep get there, I'm okay with that. Brockers, at his height probably needs to be >300 if he isn't there already.

True, but Marquise Hill played at ~295 @ 6'7".

Suh played at 290-300....particularly later in the season when he hit his stride. And, he is 6-5. The issue is being overdone IMHO.
Brockers at a lean/athletic 275-280 will do fine. Quickness and power are the key, not additional bulk at that point.

The most important thing on the line is who can or will command a double team? It doesn't matter which one of the four does, as long as someone does.
this free's up the rest for one on one match ups. if the other three can't beat a one on one, then you are in trouble. If they can, you are in business.

I think we all know what Nevis can do when he's healthy, I'm definitely not worried about him. For some reason I believe Brockers becomes that guy that steps up and takes the other starting position.

Downs isn't 280 and I hope Levingston has put on a few lbs since the Spring.

wow I walked away and got several replies sweeet. I hope Davenport is totally healthy.
I believe they'll be able to tackle, just wondering about getting penetration and hoping miles asked Chavis to blitz a little more :)

You just got to believe 4 of these guys will step up and offer a damn good rotation. One trait the DTs need to bring this season is attitude....one helluva mean streak.
