Is Heyward confirmed to be in the lineup?

I like where Gonzalez is. Too low an OBP guy to be higher.

Also we've put O'Flaherty on the DL for some kind of viral infection or something and called up Mike Dunn, a left hander at Gwinnett who we got in the Yankees trade. He was 2-0 with 7 saves, 1.05 ERA and 56 K's in 42.2 innings.

Also noticed that we've got 5 guys in baseball America's new top 50 prospects list

LINK

quote:

6. Julio Teheran, rhp, Braves (High Class A Myrtle Beach): Teheran has the highest upside of any pitcher in the minors currently, with a clean, power arm that produces consistent mid-90s heat, and he throws a lot of strikes. Teheran already has exceeded his career high in innings, so his second half may not be as impressive as his first.

and

quote:

20. Freddie Freeman, 1b, Braves (Triple-A Gwinnett): The youngest player in the International League had a hot June (.923 OPS), allaying fears he couldn't make adjustments against advanced pitching. He's not far from being ready to join roommate Jason Heyward in the Braves' lineup.

and Mike Minor, Randall Delgado, and Vizcaino are in the alphabetical 26-50 part. And that doesn't include Salcedo, Craig Kimbrell or any of the guys we drafted this year.

Braves made two roster moves today:

OF Jason Heyward activated off 15-Day DL; IF Brandon Hicks optioned to AAA Gwinnett.

LHP Eric O'Flaherty placed on 15-Day DL (viral infection); LHP Michael Dunn recalled from AAA Gwinnett.

Only problem with our system is lack of depth

we have all those guys you mentioned but after that, nothing

especially when we're talking position players

glad to see Heyward back though. We need him to start producing like he was the first 2 1/2 months of the season

Well of course

but you would still hope for some hopes of talent in AA and AAA that could be called up in the next year but that's something we don't have

You have Freeman and thats it

Schafer is as good as done. Maybe Cody Johnson but I don't think he'll ever make it either. Have some guys down in rookie and A ball though. Hopefully they'll progress

I dont understand why some people say that this wasnt a good trade? Yunel was younger and had more of an upside but with his negative attitude and lack of production, im glad we got rid of him.

I worry that Freeman might be one of those AAAA type players. He is just really inconsistent. But he is really young, so hopefully I am wrong.

It's a shame too, considering how talented he is.

Yeah he's been streaky so far. Glad to see he's been hot lately though. He brought his numbers from absolute shite to respectable. He won't ever be the big power threat people make him out to be though. Hopefully we don't see him in the majors till 2012 or 2013. He needs as much work as he can get

I could put up better numbers than him and I haven't played in quite a few years

he's just terrible now

why in the world would you think that?

umm yea? hello!

A: he's 20 yrs old hitting .287 at AAA and is on pace to strike out under 100 times the whole season.
B: the only thing he's inconsistent at is hitting LHP

I'm not following on the Schafer being done thought process. Has he not been hurt since he got sent down last year? Isn't he just getting healthy again?
