Just watched this last night (I have also read the book).
Anyone else seen it? I guess it got very little play at theaters because I never saw it advertised or listed around here.
Very good adaptation of the book, they stuck very well to the story, the scenes with the wife were added though, and the book never says that The Boy was his son. It always jsut referred to him as "The Boy"

You did it all wrong....after you put the name of the movie in the thread title you are supposed to list the main characters, ask has anyone seen it, then give us the brief IMDB synopsis

I think Cormac McCarthy came out and said they were father and son because if they weren't, the story wouldn't be nearly as powerful.
And I liked the movie too. Viggo rocked the shite in it.

All of this. Excellent book and a very solid movie. Viggo gave a hell of a performance

I agree, When reading the book you assumed it was his son, but it never flat out said it. I hadnt seen where McCarthy clarified that.
Glad to see the movie version getting its due, most people have not heard of it at all. Like I said earlier, that could be due to lack of advertising around here though.

I didn't think the movie had the punch of the book, no shock there, but it captured the look. The cinematography and SFX made the film look almost exactly as I pictured it as I was reading it.
The book was really good, but I wonder if I would've liked the movie more had I not read it.

In the dedication.
So I assumed it was his son but there were a few mentions of the wife in the book. I think the movie captured the setting real well.

Great movie and also had another emotional score by Nick Cave. He needs more soundtrack duties.

I didn't read the book. I LOVED this movie, though. Very powerful.

After finishing the book, I thought the movie did a great job.
Ouch

Yes. It was dark, raw, grey, bleak, and captivating. I saw it at a mate's house. I had no idea what to expect.

Spoiler:
Was the scene with the baby headless and gutted on the skewer in the movie? I don't remember seeing it.

The most depressing movie I have ever seen. And was there ever an explanation of how things got that way?

No, they left that one out

Well what did the boy call his dad in the book?
In the movie he called him Papa repeatedly.
ETA: This was the most depressing movie ever. I dont think the "human spirit" could make me fight to survive in that world.

Remove all sharp objects from your home and watch Lilya 4-Ever. That one will wreck your good mood
