yeah but what I rememember is MIami wore them out. They got in the third quarter and Nebraska was not used to playing more than a half all year.

The Huskers hung 56 on Wyoming, 84 on Minnesota, 63 on Syracuse, and 69 on Colorado.

But they never faced the speed and athletes the Hurricanes had.

NU scored twice in the 4th Q and didn't let Miami score, doesn't indicate they were "wore out".

I watched the game. The huskers were saying it in the fourth quarter.

You forget, they were supposed to blow out Miami. This was BEFORE the Miami dynasty started. Miami kept going up by 14 and Nebraska kept on coming back and one of those plays was a trick play.

Until the Texas-USC Rose Bowl, it was the greatest college football game I had ever seen.

No I didn't. When are we going to learn that just because the media says team X is supposed to win big that doesn't make it fact. The game was played in Miami's home field.

If Rozier doesnt gbet hurt NU wins. Jeff Smith wasnt near the back he was. Also NU having to play a road game and going for 2 was ballsy. The biggest thing that affected the game, IMO, was that NU could not do its normal OB routine, as they used Miami's Weight Room previous years, UM said no thank you this year, so NU couldnt workout like they wanted, as they couldnt bring all the stuff they wanted.

I cant remember if this game was the year NU db's switched jerseys to make Miami go after the wrong guy and what year Miami started using the fax machine on the sideline to send down stuff.

The failed 2 pt conversion?

Osborne made either the gutsiest or dumbest call of all time on the 2 pt conversion. If they kick the extra point, they would have won the NC.

quote:

Ironically, Osborne had been asked earlier in the week by a reporter if he would ever consider going for two in just such a situation. "I hope it doesn't come up," Osborne said. "I'll be crucified one way or another on that one." It did come up. Osborne didn't think twice. "I don't think any of our players would be satisfied backing into it with a PAT," Osborne said. "I don't think that's the way to do it."

If they kick the PAT does Schnellenberger leave the Canes, does JJ go to Miami. A whole lot of what if's riding on that 2 point try.

JJ was going to Arkansas after Holtz, until J. Frank backed out of a promise. Broyles was the one who got the oSu job for JJ to groom him for the Hog job.

Which is the reason that JJ ran it up on the Pigs and Hatfield in Little Rock in 87.

BS. Kosar, Highsmith, and most of the Miami stars were freshman or sophomores. Very very young team.

What you saw was an unknown, very young but talented team play to its potential in the game and give a glimpse of what was coming.
