they showed highlights of the Rays game on ESPN just now. There was a ball hit in the gap in left center. BJ jogged, literally jogged, to get the ball. After the inning, Evan Longoria, being a team captain, approached him in the dugout and kind of got on him for not hustling. What does Upton do? yep, gets in Longoria's face and starts a huge ordeal between them and other teammates.

what a complete jackass.

Dumb. One of the best best team records in baseball this year, but they've been no hit twice and are now dealing with that kind of crap.

there was no way he was gonna catch the ball. it was clearly in the gap. he jogged to it once it was down though and made it from turn from a double to a triple.

yeah no one could have caught that, but you need to hustle after a ball like that. plus the throw looked like he was just casually tossing the ball in after an out. A little extra hustle and a better throw and he might have got the dude at third.

I guess that's what happens when your brother is ten times the player you are. I wish maddon would bench his arse for the rest of the season. I also wish longoria would have dropped his stupid arse on the spot.

i think he was jogging in anticipation of the ball hitting off the fence and bouncing back

i think Longoria AND upton were both out of line. It should have been a non issue

I think longoria had every right to tell upton something. Upton knew what he did was wrong so he just threw a fit like a 4 year old.

was he going to cut the ball off before it hit the fence???

no. He's not that fast. No one is that fast. So he figured he'd get it when it hit off the fence.

They have been doing well because of the massive split between batting averages with runners in scoring postion vs average batting average. It was literally like 100 point difference at one point, which is unsustainable. There is no such thing as "clutch" as a team.
