Hardest individual act to perform in sports?

Hitting a major league fastball or stopping a penalty kick in soccer?
I know some of you saw the comparison done by sports science (or whatever that show is called).
What say you?
I have a feeling I know how this will turn out on the World Cup Board.

I like my chances facing a major league fastball much more than I do trying to stop a penalty. (Obviously I don't actually like my chances to hit a fastball, but you know what I mean.)

Yeah, I get you.
What if we made it a little more even? What if the choices were a major league pitch or a penalty kick?
This frees up the pitcher to throw any type of pitch he wants. I'd say hitting a Steven Strausburg (sp?) pitch would be harder but not by much.

These inter sport comparisons are getting exceedingly retarded.

Doing a flip on a balance beam and sticking the landing.

This has always been a topic that has brought good debate and I don't find it retarded at all.

What exactly are the similarities between hitting a baseball and stopping a penalty kick that would warrant any sort of serious comparison? At most they both require hand-eye coordination, but not much else.

Feel free to avoid threads you do not like in the future.

I'll do as I please. My point remains the same. Inter-sport comparisons are exceedingly retarded.

The question is which action requires more hand eye coordination you numbnut.
That's the essence of the question for God's sake.
Jesus. Posting a legit question for fun debate around here is like buying a prize winning book for a retard only to find out they can't read.

I'd argue that hand-eye coordination is not as paramount to stopping a penalty kick as anticipation of where the penalty kick would go. This is pretty obvious if you have ever seen any amount of penalty kicks.

I would say they're not very comparable. By the time a shot is taken you pretty much have to already be moving. Meaning it's more than just hand eye coordination. More often the not, you have to make the right guess and have a little luck. I'd say hitting a fastball is a harder skill, but it's more likely to happen than stopping a penalty shot.

I agree that it's not really comparable.
They both require skill, but they also require a decent amount of "luck."
With a PK, you have to guess the right side, or your SOL. Then you still have to read high or low, and try to parry it wide or catch it. But getting the side correct is 75% of it.
With a fastball, if it's an inch higher or lower, you'll miss, but as long as you have the bat going through the same zone as the pitch, you'll hit it decent ways, just by physics alone.

Well, hitting a major league curveball is harder than hitting a major league fastball.

I can definitely do this. My strengths lie in 1st grade mental math over elite baseball or soccer skills any day, much like 99% of the population.

I play goalie and have always been pretty decent at stopping pk's
