Why soccer sucks

I've been trying really hard to get into soccer. I mean it. I've watched most of the WC games. My daughter plays - she's really good, but there are some things about the sport that drive me nuts. The biggest was on full display today.
*Referees have an impact on the outcome of 30 - 40% of the games. A foul, a dive, a blown free kick call.... these happen all the time and with the low scoring nature of soccer, 1 screw-up can make THE difference in the outcome of the game.
Soccer seems to be a sport in which the outcome of the game is not a good determination of who the better team is.
Thoughts?

I heard umps in baseball have no effect on the game...

Welcome to the wide world of sports

Yes, and they score about 100 times in a basketball game. 1 blown call != the game.

Patrick Peterson was obviously out of bounds. No controversy there.

A ref can send one team to the line more than another. It happens a lot, especially in a league where the star players are protected like the NBA.

No. But the NBA plays a best of 7 series.

Also, have you not been on the Rant following some choice Auburn games? Yeah, the referee only impacts soccer, great argument...

I think international soccer's biggest flaw is that the refs are foreign dipshits who hate the U.S.
I'm as mad as anyone else about the referees right now, but soccer is still awesome.
You should watch the EPL if you really want to give soccer a chance.
Also, this:

is not usually true.

Guys Guys, this is really getting annoying. Ok, so you don't like soccer. Why do you feel the need to write about it on the World Cup board? You remind me of a guy whose gf or wife is forcing him to go to a wedding. Yes, I know you don't want to but instead of just sucking it up you choose to bitch and moan the whole time which ruins it for everyone.
I get you don't like the World Cup, but some of us do so please quit complaining and accept that its going to be one for the next month and there is nothing you can do about it.

One blown call cost us a goal today, but we played like absolute shite defensively the first half and that put us in a hole. In the end, it did cost us winning the game, but let's also point out that our CM were out of place on the first goal, and our whole back line (except maybe Boc) was unorganized on the second goal. We wouldn't have needed that goal had we played the whole game like we did the second half.

Calm down guys. Soccer is tied with college football for my favorite, but there are some points worth talking about.
I think this is often accurate. No way is Switzerland better than Spain for example. But this is also what makes the game so great. It is so much more unpredictable than most other sports.
I disagree with the high percentage.
And if you think this is unique to soccer, go to Minnesota and talk to Vikings fans. Their view of the NFC champ game is MUCH different than most on here. I was up there last week.

One of the reasons for the round robin group stage.

16 more and we should be good. Seriously though enough with stating the facts and rules of soccer thus causing x person to bored.
Dont think about it, just sit down and watch with a beer in your hand. Many people just cant get into it, I'll never force myself to like hockey because the stanley cup or olympics are on

I'm not suggesting that blown calls only happen in soccer. But I am suggesting that since scoring happens so infrequently, the ref plays a larger role in the outcome.
Patrick Peterson blunder:
Yes it had an impact on the game but there were 8 scores in that game. Plus, this is a LOW scoring game for football.
How many Wold Cup games have had 8 scores?
How often are 8 goals scored in an EPL soccer match?
