How is Texas painting this like they won something?

TAMU controlled the situation entirely. Texas looked like little b1tches throughout this entire process. Funny how something that never came to fruition can show the true colors of the two Texas programs.

At some point in the future, TAMU will be in the SEC. I hope it's sooner than later.

They did win.

They still get the lion's share of revenue and they now will get their UT Network.

They got that by default. Getting that is nothing that wasn't going to happen anyway, unless they got their way and went to the Pac 16. That's what they wanted and TAMU told them to fvck off.

They may have won something in the form of revenue, but their fans are pissed that this happened, especially the ones that pay for tickets. Their fans will show that over the next few years...then we'll see who has really won.

Texas won the $$ game. Or else would've bolted. Implied or explicit invites were there from everyone.

From this board: "Texas does what is good for Texas."

But yes, I agree it's not a smart decision long-term.

It resembled the 2010 BCS Football Championship game.

Spin it how you want, it was a terrible decision. I can't believe people from Texas are defending it. Everyone I personally know from Texas can't stand the decision.

Texas won big today...if your goal is to win championships and make money.

What did he spin?

He said Texas won the $$ game. Fact
He said Texas got the network. Fact
He said Texas does what is good for Texas. Fact
He agreed it wasn't a good long term decision.

$25m/year isn't hard to defend.

Really? Because last time I checked, the weaker conferences are heavily penalized. It may not be year one, but there will be a shift.

Take a look through the preseason polls.. over the last 5 years.

I'm not talking about the past. I'm talking about from here on out. The Big 12 teams better schedule up out of conference, or they will be in big trouble when it comes to the BCS.

Where you start has everything in the world to do with where you finish. Ask Auburn.

When is the last time that the BCSCG game had a game where neither contestant started in the preseason top 10? I have no clue.. just curious.

EDIT: It has never happened. In almost every case both contestants were in the preseason top-10 or extremely close.

I believe this is where you're misinformed. The Big 12 in its previous form was going to keep Texas from creating its own network, and the potential Pac-10 deal supposedly put a crimp on that, too. The only way Texas would've gotten this new revenue stream was for the Big 12 to stay together, and those remaining to acquiesce to a Longhorn sports network, which they already have (supposedly).

BMY, it's good for keeping you high in the rankings, but it isn't good for the TV deals. The networks pay for the big games. Over time their deals will be weaker, making their athletic departments weaker. ...Until the conference gets ripped apart. This is why the Big-12 almost came apart in the first place.

of course.. this is a temporary fix. Handful of years probably? once the pollsters stop sucking them off we'll see the conference fall apart, even though texas tried their hardest to keep it together ( )

true but according to someone from the Texas board of regents he is GREATLY concerned about A&M and OU leaving if they get upset with Texas.... he said this united the two teams, and started a relationship with the SEC that will last.... He is furious with how UT handled it

I bet Jerry Jones threw down some money and I bet Boone threw in some money to save this conference

Jerry needs those 2 big games a year in his stadium
