I don’t believe this…Media Bias/ Media Posturing

I’ve lived in Dallas for about 15 years now and the media here is always been bias towards UT versus A&M. So be careful what you read – they all have a hard on for UT. I've talked to all of my A&M friends in Dallas - every single one wants them to go to the SEC. With all of the talk about keeping the Big 12 alive – they are mad as hell. It simply doesn’t make sense – this would basically allow UT to correct their maneuvering mistakes they made this past week for something better down the road. The New Big 12 would be a lame duck – especially on the national scene after all of this plays out and the truth is uncovered. UT is now using the media once again to its advantage to make A&M look bad but I don’t think it’s going to work. Too many Aggies are excited about the possibilities of A&M to the SEC. You simply can’t put the genie back in the bottle. UT rubbed the lamp but now wants everyone to believe it’s A&M that is blowing up the conference. Not so. UT started this whole thing but A&M can finish it. UT just didn’t think anyone wouldn’t follow their lead and do what they wanted…they didn’t think A&M could think for themselves and find much greener pastures in the SEC.
Increase revenue – immediately and more over time. With the SEC – it’s guaranteed money – not speculative like the PAC-10 or new Big-12-2. The PAC-10 makes est. $50 million per year on TV rev. There is a reason why they have one of the worst conference TV contracts – nobody in Calif.or west coast watches college football. Add A&M viewers and the Texas market to the already big dollars of the SEC – big TV contracts just get bigger - seems like a no brainer.
We'll see what happens but this sure has been fun to watch. College football in June - we've already won.

Exhibit A: Dale Hanson. On Friday on ESPN radio, he said that A&M should just do whatever Texas tells it to do and should be happy about it.
Makes me want to change the radio station, but there's nothing different on any other channel.

So... my message to A&M is... blow up the conference. It's doomed, anyhow.
Move on to new and greater things and leave the chains that hold you back in the past.
It's not so hard. What's the worst that could happen? That the others will hate you? They already hate you. They would lose respect for you? They never had any to begin with. That you would be the bad guy? Not to the only people that matter... your alumni and millions of new friends in the SEC.

Friends? Maybe right now, but that won't last long.

I heard Randy Galloway say the exact same thing on ESPN Radio yesterday. It's crazy hoow bias they all are...guess they think since A&M is haviing a few down years that they don't listen to radios or read the news. A&M did beat UT in the past - they will again. It's cyclical.
I like both Galloway and Hansen but not when they don't know the facts and just spew from the mouth.

Well one "friend" said it best - I guess that ends our constant debate on which conference is better - Big 12 or SEC...SEC!

My bad. Maybe it was Galloway not Hansen who said it on Friday. I don't remember. I may have had something to drink since then. What I do remember is something to the effect that A&M should hitch its bandwagon to Texas and be thankful for the opportunity.
I am no fan of the Aggies because I was at LSU during the height to our rivalry with them. But still, they deserve more respect than that.

If Texas A&M wants to truly get serious about that football program, to be able to get just as good of recruits as Texas, not looked upon as UT's little brother, now is the time for them to stick it to UT and get on board with the best football conference in the land! The SEC! A&M has to be loving this attention they are getting across the nation. You can't buy this kind of pub!

You know, I wonder how many of the fans out there are paying as much attention to this thing as I am. My office is full of Bix XII alums. Except for the Kansas guy, who is obviously concerned, the rest of them don't seem to be watching the news as closely as I am.
Does the whole country care as much as the Texas folks?

The Ticket - which *owns* the Dallas sports radio market (and that's putting it lightly) isn't biased to UT in the least.
Craig Miller and Corby - OU homers
Mike Rhyner - UT and OU hater/A&M hanger-on
Bob and Dan - If anything, A&M partial
Norm - too busy talking to Kenyan cross-country team
George Dunham - more UT than anyone, but not a homer by any means.
UT gets more coverage because it's a top 5 program and A&M rarely sniffed the top 20 last decade.
The few times I tune to 105.3 or ESPN I also do not sense a UT bias at all.

+ 1. I believe this is exactly what's happening. A & M can really strike a damaging blow to Texas if they play their cards right.

That's why they would fit right in with the Big PAC.

We must be listening to a different Ticket, because they have been in the bag for UT this whole week. Especially the morning show. Rhyner hates Texas, but he's far too myopic about A&M to support them going to the SEC, as he think they are going to get hammered. The only support for A&M has come from the 12-3 slot, which is A) staffed by two non-Texans (Bob and Dan) and B) not as highly rated as drive time.

I had to quit listening to the Ticket because there wasn't enough sports talk.
AMENDMENT: Also, back in the day, there was an LSU hater in the afternoons. That was a long time ago though.

I am really just talking about the conference realignment discuss because I hadn't noticed it before.

People actually listen to 105.3 other than when the Cowboys are playing? Who knew.
ESPN Radio in Dallas is downright awful.
Ticket or GTFO.
