An AD tells Chip that the Ag's turned down the Pac.

An Ag 'spokesman' says they haven't done anything yet.

I think you see the truth in there.

Ag spokesmen will continue to try to appear as though it's business as usual, as they should, but we know that isn't the truth.

By the way, Chip hasn't said he agrees with anything.

He has stated that Ag spokesmen are trying to put out fires and keep things on the downlow, like they should be doing.

I guess that's true.

the ags and UT is in a stare down waiting for the first one to blink. UT wants the ags to announce they are going to the SEC while they are still contemplating keeping the big12 together so they can paint the ags as the bad guy. does anyone believe a ten team big"12" is still a viable option? the ags are waiting for the final pieces of the big12 to crumble before announcing they are going to the sec.

I agree UT will paint the Aggies in as bad a light as possible.

One option is to put a new Big12 proposal on the table and force A&M to make a decision. If they say no, they turned their back on the state...blah, blah, blah.

Some Texas Hold 'em being played.

If the Ag's have the SEC in their hand, they're holding the nuts.

How can we turn down an offer from anybody when the board of regents doesnt meet until next Tuesday and our athletic director has been out of town all weekend?

Dosent make much sense to me. I think Chip is trying to stir the pot personally

the problem with that is everyone knows what's actually going on. A new Big12 proposal from Texas is the equivalent of holding TAMU hostage.

I think its great that UT's plan of everyone going to the pac 10 with them has backfired. At this point they are trying to salvage an f'ed up plan

Exactly. They expected everyone to do what they said, now that the Ag's have a viable option, or maybe better, they're playing damage control. Their threat to not play them in the future didn't work, so now they're scrambling.

I think A&M is sitting on three offers:
1. The SEC offer
2. The PAC-10 offer
3. The stay in the Big 12 offer.

Right now t.u. doesn't like it but A&M holds all the cards. If A&M jumps to the SEC t.u.'s whining about A&M breaking up the conference rings hollow--after all, earlier in the week they were whining that NEBRASKA broke up the conference. Which is it? And who in their right mind wouldn't take an invite into the nation's premier football conference?

My fear is with A&M is all the higher ups hung up on keeping rivalries alive.

Yep. Hence all the articles and p.r. hits that A&M and Stallings has had to endure at the end of the week. At the beginning of the week, Texas was sitting on it's throne expecting to hand out directions as usual, then Stallings started speaking out and the SEC started getting vocal, Aggies got vocal and now Texas isn't sure how to react. But you're right.. Aggies are holding the cards and in control right now.

Bullies only know how to intimidate. When faced with their own music they quickly back down because they can't back up their talk. t.u. is learning this first-hand--they bit off more than they can chew. They (probably) promised the PAC-10 that, if invited, they could deliver the entire Big 12 South sans Baylor (and probably had a hand in the Colorado jump), got OU to fall in line (which got OSU to quickly follow suit), and Tech knew they had no leverage. Unfortunately for them (and hopefully fortunately for the SEC) A&M called their bluff.

Like I said the other day.... this could all be posturing by TAMU to let TU just how 'important' they are in this process. Personally, I want TAMU in the SEC. I don't like TU and what was said in the above posts about TU calling the shots and directing the charge seems to be very true.

Seems to me TU is sitting back in a way and letting Nebraska go to the Big 10, Colorado to the PAC 10, and TAMU think about the SEC. This way TU can say, "Hey, we didn't break up our conference!" when they've been in the back room drawing up battle plans. Nebraska, Colorado, and especially TAMU will be painted into a PR corner where they will have to defend their actions while Texas comes out smelling like a yellow rose.

I think TAMU is the one that will come out smelling like a rose if the come to the SEC. They'll instantly get equal revenue sharing, will be out from Texas' shadow, probably get more ink time in papers because of being in a different conference and playing bigger games than Texas will be playing. The only thing Texas gets out of this if TAMU is SEC bound, is a blackeye from giving empty threats and not really doing anything to keep the conference together, just giving lip service and sitting on their butts expecting everyone to ask how high, when they said jump.
