If you have watched the cartoon from bevo in which Baylor is crucified, you will not be too surprised to read this story, in which Kansas and Missouri are being courted by the MWc but TCU is preventing Baylor from coming along.

Happy reading.

Two of the prettiest girls at the dance are not leaving with the school nerd.

KU and MU will find better homes (probably in the Big-10 West). The dregs of the Big-12 (ISU, KSU, OSU, Baylor) will have to absorb most of the Mountain West and WAC (TCU, NM, CSU, AF, Wyo., BYU, Boise, Fresno, UNLV, Nevada, SDSU, SJSU) just to keep their BCS bid, and even then it will be in jeopardy under the BCS review rules.

Delaney already told Beebe that the Big 10 has no interest in any other school besides Nebraska right now.

Kansas has a great bball tradition, but is a relative newcomer in football success and brings nothing in terms of media markets.

Mizzou does have to good tv markets but is a recent factor in football, I just think the Pac 10 has better options than Mizzou and that the Big 10 will now try and move east. They are done in the west. By virtue of that Mizzou is f'ed.

Can't help but feel sorry for Baylor. Sold out by EVERY university in Texas. Maybe SMU won't blackball them out of that conference???? Lol

Why? They never deserved to be in the Big 12.

That's right. They were able to pull some political shenanigans to be included when Ann Richards, a Baylor alumnus, was Gov.

Really? Who are you to judge that? Is Vandy deserving to be in the SEC? Regional conferences are just that, regional and I for one will miss Big 12. Texas can easily absorb the increased travel costs but I wonder about A&M and the others. I really hoped that the Big 12 could hang together even with the loss of Nebraska and Colorado but I guess it was not to be. They could have added TCU and Utah or Boise and been just fine from my perspective. But I guess tapping into more TV money and research grants is more important to Texas.

This. I dont mind Baylor but the world is circular and they kept TCU from going to the Big 12, revenge is sweet.

But count Self among those who still believe in the viability of the Big 12.

"If this league is held together," Self said, "we'll go get two teams or six teams and this league will be better than it ever has been."

In the last 10 years of the SWC, Baylor had the 2nd best winning pct in the conference (excluding Arky who left before SWC fell apart). Baylor went 66-47-1 in those years while TCU went 47-63.

Were there politics involved in getting Baylor into the Big 12? Abso-freaking-lutely! No denying that. But if the Big 8 really was going to go to 12, name a school who should have had that 4th spot from the SWC.

Other records in the final 10 years:

Houston 45-64-2
Rice 36-72
SMU 19-66-3

I guess my point is, for as much as people remember the politicking Ann Richards and Bob Bullock did to ensure Baylor's place in the new Big 8, people forget that if you simply look at the football, Baylor really was the logical final choice of all those tiny schools. It's easy to forget that because Baylor's poor leadership and decision making caused them to become the whipping boy of the Big 12. The last 14 years of conference play makes it look like TCU was some SWC power that got screwed by terrible (but politically powerful) Baylor at the end of the SWC. That wasn't the case. The two schools may very well have had reversed fates if we had switched spots. TCU may have a HUGE bowl drought and Baylor might have just played a BCS game.

Texas Tech got in the Big 12 by the same machinations, yet they're in the Pac-10 now. TCU didn't get the Big 12 invite because they were coming off probation.

Though I do think it is pretty funny to see TCU screw Baylor.

With the big 12 disbanding, I think their automatic BCS bid will go to the "new" MWC. No links, no rumors, just my guess.

Especially if they add Kansas. That means they will have Utah, TCU, Kansas, and Boise: six BCS bids between four teams in the last five years. That's a solid case that they deserve a bid. They will be a lesser BCS conference, but I think they will still be on the level.

Lets reword this, for fun:

"Texas and Arkansas, like always, won the most games in every sport. No matter the sport, it came down to Arkansas and Texas.

But in the irrelevant race for 3rd place, Baylor had the 3rd best winning % in the final 10 years of the SWC."

Maybe you should add that to your resume. You're going to need all the help you can get.

Actually, A&M was number one in that final time period. Baylor was slightly ahead of Texas, who was fourth.
