KU
KSU
ISU
Missouri
Baylor

What happens here?

Options 1 - Try to keep the "Big XII" alive by adding:
Memphis
Tulsa
SMU
Houston
UTEP
Rice
Tulane
or some other combination?

Option 2 - Petition for Mountain West Membership?

Option 3 - Just kinda fricked, really.

Already at 12, so one of the Homeless Five is still dicked...(and we know it'd be ISU)

Kansas will find a good home, I reckon the Big10..

Missouri will end up in one of the (SEC or B10)

The rest will fall to the MWC/Con USA or MAC.

I'm hoping they raid another conference, like CUSA, then the SunBelt/WAC/CUSA leftovers can work it out

That won't work as long as the Big 12 goes below 6 members *with a prior history together* at any time.

With Nebraska and Colorado out, they're down to 10 right now.

If UT, Tech, OU, and OSU go to the Pac Ten, they're down to 6.

If A&M goes to the SEC, they're down to 5 and officially lose their recognition from the NCAA. If they lose their recognition, they lose their automatic BCS bid and might as well disperse to the Mountain West and C-USA.

This. So will MU. Just waiting for the Tex-arse schools to bolt. ISU, OSU, KSU and Baylor will have to join the "Plains" division of the Mountain West (but by "inviting" them to join the Big-12, they'll keep the Big-12's BCS bid).

Pac-16
East: TX, TT, A&M, OU, CU Utah, ASU, Ariz
West: USC, UCLA, Cal, Stanford, Oregon, OSU, UW, Wazoo

Big-12/Mountain West/Old WAC
Plains: ISU, OSU, KSU, CSU, AF, Wyo, Baylor, TCU
Mountain: Boise, BYU, SDSU, UNLV, Fresno, Nevada, Hawaii, NM

Big-16
West: NU, MU, KU, IA, MN, WI, NW, IL
East: Purdue, IN, OSU, MSU, MI, PSU, CT, Rutgers

so RockChalk, I take it you think aTm will cave in at the last min and joing the Pac16, despite all the SEC talk?

Yeah, I think somebody on here hit it on the head when they said A&M is just flirting to preserve the appearance of independence. The SEC will have to look elsewhere if it wants to expand.

I kinda think that too, but I hope I'm wrong...if the SEC is going to have to expand (because everyone else is), I want them to have aTm...

I think all the "western" options are going to be gone by the end of next week. The SEC will have to go after ACC and Big East schools. The ACC makes almost as much money as the SEC, so that will be a tough sell. The SEC might be stuck with 12 for a while.

IMO ISU and Baylor are fricked - and KSU is hoping MU and KU are fricked so they have a reason to stand by KSU

Kansas and Missouri might be fricked but they have enough positives that they may still complete a hail-mary and land somewhere good

Missouri is probably the fourth team on teh Big 10's wish list at this point - behind Notre Dame, Rutgers, and Maryland. I don't think Syracuse or Pitt make as much sense as MU. Fortunately for Missouri - 4th may still end up being high enough if they go to 16

I could be wrong with Kansas but I think they are more likely to end up in the PAC than the Big 10. Regarding the Big 10 - they do offer superior basketball but they don't have much in the way of population, are further west (without the national football cred of Nebraska) and just offer less of a media market. They are probably somewhat tied to KSU as well... so depending on how things shake out Kansas ends up in the PAC without KSU and MU or trying to forge a new conference affiliation with MU and KSU as the other two name players

"Deserves got nothing to do with it" - Unforgiven

Every single school and conference mentioned in all of these discussions has acted in their own self interest. From the Big 10, to Nebraska and Missouri, to Texas, Colorado, and teh PAC 10
