Ahhh really. What do the people in your area think about taking an Eastern team?

They would have to add two teams now.

Indifferent. I wouldn't really mind one, I just don't want a bunch. Get ND, add an East team, two divisions with 7 teams.

that west division is terribly weak compared to the east division. i understand the geographical break down, but the east division would have potentially 3 top 10-15 teams and the west division would have 1, maybe 2, top 25 teams. unless they can add ND to the west and a weaker team to the east, that is going to be a horrible imbalance of power.

this shits killing me!!!!!!

rutgers needs out of the big east in the worst way.

nebraska does very little to expand the big 10 brand, but bringing in rutgers gets you the nyc tv market.

BWAHAHAHA...yeah, right it does.

RU is going to look pretty bad "if" they have to crawl back to whatever is left of the BE after begging to suck the teet of the B10.

I think this will be the B10 membership within a couple of weeks. Missouri will be next.

what college football team would bring a bigger percentage of tv ratings in nyc other than rutgers, besides maybe notre dame?

Meh, Penn St., Syracuse, and maybe even UConn would be on equal footing in the NYC market. Either way, none of those teams is truly bringing the NYC market.

The Big Ten should only be Midwest teams IMO. Penn State should move to the ACC. The Big Ten should consider Missouri and Iowa State.

adding rutgers to the east and mizzou to the west does very little to balance the massive discrepancy of power between the divisions of the new Big 10 conference. that eastern division is SEC caliber.

WRONG.

penn state- no, if that was the case, the big 10 wouldnt even be looking at rutgers

syracuse- heres a quick geography lesson, syracuse is about 7 hours from nyc, rutgers is 45 mins. whens the last time the empire state building was lite up orange for a syracuse game (answer never!)

uconn- again, not even close.

so you're 0 for 3. im not claiming that nyc loves rutgers and is 100% behind them, but they have the most potential BY FAR. and with games against big 10 foes, they would pull a huge nyc tv market.

Don't need a geography lesson, I lived in CT and NY for 20+ years. RU fans sure do love talk about that Empire State building stunt (along with Schiano's helicopter), but in reality, the NYC ratings for RU football are not really better than those of Syracuse or UConn basketball. Again, none of those teams really "delivers" the NYC market. To be fair, I think the B10 is a bit naive in thinking that NYC is really going to give a shite about any college football team.

Please post some ratings from a game other than the RU-Louisville game where NYC was really tuned in to Rutgers football.
