Hornets Board: Tyson Chandler allegedly healthy and opting out

i think he's talking about the contract part. if bower had held on to tc we'd be possibly done with him now, instead we have okafor and his shite contract until 2015 or so.

I think it applies to both angles. If Tyson is actually healthy he's one of the pieces we're missing and you could have extended him. If he's just in a good spot right now and will break down again eventually you'd let him leave and clear enough cap space to avoid the tax and use the MLE. I wasn't saying sign him he thinks he'll get a good bit more than the MLE anyway.

I'd like to see him back if he plays like he did before he got hurt, and is looking a small salary.

So we shouldn't judge Bower based on his actual results, just his intentions? We all liked the Okafor trade at the time, but the pro GM is supposed to be better at his job than the fans and at the very least he should have known Okafor wouldn't be a good fit and would be hard to trade since he's considered one of the worst contracts in the league. In hindsight a good GM would have never made that trade.

people writing off Okafor are stupid. His contract sucks, but we have to deal with him for now. New coach, new system. He could easily be rejuvenated and become a solid player for us.

no GM is perfect. Of course he should be based on final results. But I would definitely be hesitant to do so, especially if you liked the move at the time, which about 90% of Hornet fans did.
if you dont think you are smart enough to comment on it and gauge the importance of the trade at the time, then dont say anything at all.

it's a bad contract for an average to slightly above average player. how is that a surprise? we needed all the flexibility we can get and bower traded for the type of contract that's going to cause a new cba.

Marks was injured, we'd have either signed a garbage player like Barron or had a lot more fun with West and Songaila. The point is, if this isn't just fluff and Tyson is actually healed and not in danger of breaking down again, it's one of the biggest medical evaluation screw ups since Miami passed on Drew Brees. The fans would have waited another year for the CCC to return if they knew he was coming back.
ETA: I've always seen "degenerative" attached to his foot condition, anyone have any idea if he could actually be healthy enough to justify the 4-5 year deal he'd need for opting out to make sense?

we could have just signed wilcox for 2-3 mil to be our center for one season. bower had originally traded for him in the okc deal which was actually pretty solid.

As a Charlotte resident, this is great news. TC looked absolutely horrible for the Bobcats and was a huge waste of money. Good riddance!

dude Tyson sucked when he was healthy the last time we saw him in a Hornets uniform.
and he has a horrible attitude. He was CP3's friend, but his demeanor at times was detrimental to the team.

the pick and roll was NON EXISTENT after our playoff run. Tyson Chandler suffered immensely when teams figured out what the Hornets were doing. ANd his rebounding was down as well, to make matters worse. And he was a whiny bitch

Are you sure? Okafor looked miles better than Chandler and he did not have the attitude problems that Tyson has.
