Look how the travel shapes up. Unlike the PAC-L + a Buff scenario, The SEC can stay huge and still the best conference in the country and not make their fans travel ridicuously. Clemson, A&M, FL. St. (begrudgingly) and Ga. Tech. Who would be more competitive? The natural rivals make the league.

Virginia Tech was Slive's second choice behind Texas...

please no no no to Clem's son.

much rather have Clemson than VaTech. Culturally, they are just like any traditional SEC school. Geographically, they make more sense too. Sure VaTech taps into another marker but as a fan, I don't give a rats arse about that.

Ever been to Clemson? It would quickly become one of your favorite road trips. Beers/Crown at the car at the half is priceless.

VT is not a SEC school, it needs to stay in the ACC

I look at it as an opportunity to bring your brand to more areas of the country. No one is making the fans travel, that's why they don't make you buy away game tickets as a part of the season package. It gives the fans that don't live in LA a better chance to go to the games, IMO, which I am excited about.

UVA and VA politics are not gona let VT just walk away from the ACC after what went on to get VT in the ACC.

You're just wrong. The Texas schools will leave Baylor behind and VT will do the same to VA if given the chance.

How many people actually drive to away games at Nashville, Knoxville, Lexington, Columbia? Blacksburg is only 1 HOUR farther than Lexington is from BR. You're saying people won't be willing to drive one more hour to see a far superior team? I'd be willing to be most fans at away games either fly or already live near the away team.

In case you haven't figured this out, it is all about television revenue. Clemson and Ga. Tech bring very little. We already have both markets and neither has enough of a national presence.

Neither does Florida State.
I would rank the schools we would want in this order:
1.) Texas schools (UT and/or A&M)
2.) V. Tech - D.C. tv markets.
3.) UNC and Duke - this is a package deal IMO mostly for basketball
4.) Miami - South Florida market and a huge national following
5.) WVU - DC market somewhat and they have a solid Basketball program.
6.) Missouri - St. Louis and Kansas City tv market.
7.) Florida St., Clemson, Georgia Tech - just fall back options. They add literally new tv market

VT is only 200 miles from knoxville and 230 from lexington. it's not like adding texas tech or uva. which are farther. i would like VT in the SEC.

Bingo...and Virginia is the 8th most populous state. VT fans across the state are loyal and rabid (much more so than the ones from Mr. Jefferson's University). This would be a great move by the SEC. Let's just skip over NC.

but do we need another team with another variation of maroon as their primary color?

I guess you have no idea what really happened to get VT in the ACC. UVA had the deciding vote to get them in and it was switched to yes by politics so no way the flag ship university of the state will just let VT use then like a step on a ldder to leave with out making it hell for them

I do...I watched it. It was UVA grad Gov George Allen who got in the middle of it. But that was yesterday.
There's no way that VT will allow UVA control to its destiny if it has a better opportunity like the SEC.

VT, WV are in the mountains, which means snow in autumn and terrible drives to get there any time.
NO to those.
