this year? Starting 32-6, then going 4-14, then sweeping the tourney, then 1-2 in the regional.

Inconsistency is usually a sign of youth (inexperience) and lack of leadership. Too many freshman in key roles, sophomores who lacked perspective, and upperclassmen who are very talented but just aren't leaders (Dean, Ranaudo, Gibbs).

Seems like losing the leadership JMitch, LeMahieu, Schimpf, and especially Coleman negatively affected the team as much as anything.

FWIW, I do expect even bigger success from this team next year.

Discuss amongst yourselves.

You don't think guys like Gibbs and Ranaudo are leaders? They exemplify good leadership. We just weren't good enough this year. I guess its a tough concept for people to rationalize.

Depends on the draft.

what is so hard for people to understand that our pitching just wasnt very good this year? To win 40 games with an ERA around 5.50 just shows how good the other areas of this team are. It's something to build on next year.

Quit overthinking it

I really think Coleman was the guy who held this team together last year and everyone rallied around him. We just didn't gel this year for some reason. Lots of talent that just didn't come together.
