Friend in from California and wants some good Louisiana food. Where should we go? Chimes?

Yep, love Gugs, and their poboys, but small canned baby shrimp, and the inconsistent nature of the gumbo from day-to-day..there is much much better and more consistent gumbo in BR.

Don's probably does the best or one of the best seafood around. Check out Ouncy's at Uncle O's and he's right on top as well.

And it ain't gumbo weather either

But Dons is usually very good.

Have to disagree with you Kajun. It's always gumbo weather, to me. I eat it all year round. Just turn down the AC and you're good to go.

Dempsey's does bring the goods on chicken and sausage gumbo.

And Martini, you are right, Ouncy makes a solid gumbo, and I like his bisque too.

Louisiana Lagniappe has my favorite seafood gumbo in town & thats saying a lot because i generally prefer chicken and sausage gumbo.

LA Lagniappe is my favorite gumbo spot too. It's actually my favorite seafood restuarant in BR period

Dempseys and the cabin are my favorite gumbos around town. Parrains is great overall place to take him.
