It doesn't look good unless something changes. We still have contracts for the next 1-1/2 years but beyond that who knows. Depends what new regulations come down the pike and how fast the industry can adjust. Plenty is riding on the new drilling suspension. If the seafood industry is shut down for more than one season it could get ugly.

Crime rate will go up.

Houma will become one of Obama's unicorn farms. The good people of the area will be milking the unicorns for hope and change.

We can all hang out at Hooters

Hooter's and Peppers aren't bad. But I will be at Dooley's.

I've still never been to the Hooters in houma
I figured it'd be more like a high school reunion

We invaded that place for an impromptu 5yr high school reunion. The bar tender was slightly overwhelmed.

yeah seriously guys, this suspension is for deepwater drilling and exploratory for 6 months. the Oil lobbyists aren't going down lightly. There is a huge infrastructre to maintain already out there that will keep people busy. They are just squeezing what little domestic offshore drilling we have to protect the country and they'll be forced to back off a bit once this dies down.

The biggest hit will be to the currently under construction DP2 large OSV's being designed for deep water support. Nothing like tying up a 20+ million dollar boat because there are no rigs to service and or the contracts they were built for are on hold.

Free food at Dooley's on Thursdays, and don't forget we'll have the Houma Legend Todd Adams to keep spirits up until this blows over
