My dad used to play football with him on the neighborhood playgrounds when they were kids. Said he was a gentle giant, a real Baby Huey type.

I'll tell you what I remember. I went to LSU in the 60's.

He was 6'3" to 6'4", probably weigh around 260.

He was from Houston, TX.

He was white like every player back then. Blonde hair. He did look like a gentle bear.

I'm glad that I happened upon TigerDroppings! Unfortunately, George Rice passed away in his sleep December 26 at his home in Sealy, TX. He was 66 y/o. He was born and raised in Liberty, Mississippi, but graduated from Istrouma HS. 1st team All American in 1965 at LSU. 1st round choice of Chicago Bears, but instead signed in 3rd round w/Houston Oilers and played 5 years as DT. George worked for Diamond Offshore Drilling in Houston for 32 years until he passed away Sunday. He enjoyed hunting and sporting clays. He will be missed for sure - his memorial service is today.
