BP Protest at Jackson Square on Sunday

Protest BP any way you want but to say that BP murdered the eleven workers his absurd. No one knows what exactly happened yet.

the protest doesn't care about the workers.
it cares about the pelicans.
Honestly, i also care much less about the 11 workers than i do about the potential forward reaching impact on the gulf, it's animal species, and the coastal eco system.

In the grand sceme of things after this is all said and done, BP will come out smelling like a rose. They will be the experts on oil spill control and cleanup and will have the blueprint that all the others will want to follow. They may be getting some negative exposer right now but long term they will be laughing at these protest all the way to the bank.

You can bet other oil companies are probably watching this fisasco and putting together response plans of their own as we speak.
Regardless the gov't will probably require a implementation and funding plan for future accidents before you can drill in the future.

Actually most of the other companies are assisting BP any way that they can. This incident happened on a BP lease and could have happened to any other oil company. NO ONE was prepared for this.

I am shocked that there was no plan by anybody.
We can only hope that the future brings government and industry regulations that will have plans to stop a disaster like this from ever happening again.

What has happened to our coast that is worst than Valdez?
Only a small fraction of oil is in the marshes, there have only been a small number of birds and turtles covered in oil. There have been ZERO fish kills reported and oil on the beach can be easily cleaned.
Now, it could get worse but as of now, it's not that bad for us. The one thing that could make this a complete disaster, is if a hurricane would hit our coast and then we would be officially fricked in the arse. Until then, we just have to clean a little oil off the coast then, compensate our fisherman then move on.

The relief well is the only thing to stop this. It is atleast another month away. I love the oil industry, but this is going to slam people I have known for over thirty years and completely frick-up their way of life. There is no way to compensate for that.

Life is over for a lot of people as they know it for the time being and very likely for a long time to come. You can't spin this fiasco to make it any better and you are a hack if you try. Hell, even a BP exec called it catastrophic today.

Why? Cause there is a little oil in the marshes? Why dont you wait until it completely devastates the marshes before you throw in the towel. Focus on the facts at this point, dont buy into the media hype.
