I brought this movie up in another thead. I really really really liked this movie. I watched it Friday, and this easily slips into my top 10 movies I've watched. I am thinking of reading the book. I just hope watching the movie didn't spoil it too much.

You will hate Supertramp after reading the book, which will taint your view of the movie.

i don't understand the hate of alexander supertramp. the guy accepted the possibility of death. he welcomed the riskiness of the adventure by neglecting items which would have reduced the risk. i realize he didn't purposefully end his life, but without taking such risks, his life, to him i imagine, would not have been worth living.

He was a selfish, idealistic, emo rich kid.

He could've at least sent his family a letter saying he was OK. Also he was a moron to be that unprepared in the wilderness. Other than that I like the idea of living off of the land and off the grid.

You can thank his parents for that. Mainly his dad from what I gather.

This.
Was a good movie, but let's not glamorize the dude more than he should be.

Beat parts of the movie is when he was traveling the country working odds jobs. Figuring shite out as they say.
I worked in Colorado for a time ski bumming, I could relate to the kid.
It was when he got wise and went to Alaska
did I begin to think he was a douche.
Kid needed to get laid.

The book will always be better than a movie. This movie however started slow, stayed slow, and ended slow. I kept waiting for the movie to take off and it left me like 3/4's of a handjob. Unsatisfied.
Fcking hippies. No offense of course

Wasn't she 15 or something?

Oh and aren't the reasons behind his death not truly represented in the movie?

There is several pages in the book debating on whether or not he hit it or if he was a virgin.

My daughter put me through this nightmare. What is it like 17 hours long. Sorry, its just not me. Im expecting something like Jeremiah Johnson and I get this?
Totally hated it. Id rather watch The Happening back to back to back than go through this again!

I never understood the hate people have for him calling him selfish and stuff. He def should have done the things you said though!
