I am sad to say this is not a fishing report. I have my boats on with the parish to help clean up the oil.

Today, my job was to take 6 boats out to the Chandelier Islands. There was a report that oil and dead birds were sited. We didn't see any dead birds, but we did see a lot of oil. Actually we ran across the oil at Free Mason island. That is about 4 - 5 miles inside of Chandelier Island. Like I said we did not see any fish but, we say a lot of dead jelly fish. I imagine that it won't be long before we start finding a lot of dead birds. The birds were diving on the little fish in the oil that the Mackerels were chasing to the top.

Guys this is really a said situation we are finding ourselves in. I know we all want to be fishing but, I can't see anyone wanting to eat fish from that area.

Check out some of the pictures of what we saw today.

Please keep us in your prayers.
Capt. Johnny Nunez

This report from a local fisherman out of Shell beach.

Why the hell arent there more efforts to fight this thing at the front line. The front line is what ever line is closest to shore. I saw a hay demonstration. LINK

My understanding from a high authority in plaquemines parish said we may begin to here of some home grown ideas in the coming days. Also said that "They" are aware that FLA is using chicken wire barrriers filled with hay and hair to soak up the oil before it hits shore.

Bottom Line the attempt by all.....on every level of govt is failing IMO. They are waiting for it hit shore.

Please do not blame the government. They have no responsibility in this disaster. My biggest concern is coastal erosion after the oil kills the marshgrass along Louisiana's coast. The shrimping and oyster industry is long-term fricked.

Sorry One of the Govt job is to protect its citizens. Just my opinion but I place blame on Clinton Bush Obama Blanco and Jindal. There is enough blame to go round. Of course lets not leave out BP and OIL industry not taking every precaution possible. Accidents happen but can you honestly say every body above
1) Did every thing to prevent it
2) Once it happened did every thing to contain the spread
3) Doing EVERYTHING possible to prevent shoreline contact.

NO

They probably will be ready in the future though.

I really think people are overreacting just a tad. An even worse disaster like this occurred in the Bay of Campeche in the late 70s, and none of this eco-disaster scenario I've been seeing ever occurred.

They have no responsibility in the accident, but they sure as hell have a responsibility to help get it straight. So did they government not have any responsibility with Katrina, after all it was a Natural disaster.

The only reason some say things like this is because unlike Katrina, there is someone to vilify (BP).

Notice I didnt specify where it hit that I was talking about. The government FAILED in every aspect and location of Katrina. The NOLA coverage just got the majority of the coverage.

The point is that the government does have a responsibility in this matter and to think otherwise one would need to pull the Obama loving, media induced wool from their eyes.

Apparently it isn't on the internet, or it is so esoteric Google hasn't found it yet (which I find hard to believe).

The only thing I could find on the guy is how great he is catching fish and he shares pictures.

I'm calling fake for the time being, till at least the OP can reveal more info.

Damn.

I can't wait to see what they look like.

Hopefully it is tarball infiltration only.

Doesn't sound like it though.
