Destin - 4th of July- Possibility of the beaches being closed

Looking like the oil might effect something this far away so might have to cancel a trip to destin. Anyone have a good suggestion for a 4th of July destination? Preferably something on the beach or on the water

You could always go to Texas

Daytona is awesome lived there after the hurricane...on the other side of the gulf so no worry about oil there

I'll be in Destin for Memorial weekend. Oil or no oil, I'm there.

Funny enough they look like they will get spared there. I canceled my trip to Grand Isle for this weekend but it looks like I would have been ok

Considering that is 2 months away you may want to wait and see what happens.

Destin will be fine. Worry more about the jellyfish than oil by that time.

these beaches are fricking worthless.
I would suggest something up in the mountains around Chattanooga or NC.
You could rent a place on a big lake somewhere. There are actually some nice places to rent at places like Lake Livingston or Conroe in TX.

They are drowning up north right now. Shitty conditions all around right now.

Probably will still be plenty of debris around.

Probably the worst part about the whole situation. The smell with the gulf breezes will be horrendous even if you are in the towns just off the beach.

panama city beach in late july..not cancelling. PCB people are saying no predictions of oil hitting near them. gulf currents are supposed to push oil to around the keys
