When they changed the estimate of daily spillage a few days ago I didn't think it would long.

SkyTruth is now estimating that Exxon Valdez has been surpassed... calculating a spill volume of 26000 bbl/day based on April 28's overflight map

I would take this with a grain of salt. The overflight map doesn't really tell you that much.

The oil on the surface will continue to spread, it is wind and current driven. However size is not important, it is density on the surface and whether the sheen is a light skimming or actual thick sludge.

Its bad, but I don't know how much you can really tell from a satellite as far as the amount of oil. Just determines the size of the footprint

Maybe it's just me, but does the MODIS imagery of the spill eerily resemble Lucifer in a Batman Mask?

I know i'm operating on less than 3 hrs. sleep in the past 72, but geez........
