What's the best in your opinion? I'd like to check a few reliable ratings before possibly wasting time on some movies.
And please list a small list of your favorite movies to see if I value your opinion.
Thanks

Best reviewer on the web.
And I usually check Metacritic over Rotten Tomatoes. Cleaner, quicker, and they actually average out the scores on a 100 scale rather than just doing Fresh/Rotten. I feel it's more accurate, especially for polarizing films.
City Lights
Seven Samurai
The Thing
Murder on the Orient Express
The Sting
The Prestige
City of God
Oldboy
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
I could go on

I use Rottentomatoes.com and imdb.com to find a movie, but to be honest, lately I have been coming on here and asking for opinions off this board once I find a movie that looks appealing, some very solid opinions on here.
O and not to hijack your thread but off the top of my head, favorite movies are:
Shawshank
Children of Men
V for Vendetta
28 Days Later
Unforgiven
Empire Strikes Back
The Matrix (original, not the trilogy)
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

I always start with rottentomatoes.com for a general idea of how a movie's doing with critics. Then I go to specific critics. My absolute favorite critic is James Berardinelli of reelviews.net. I find that I agree with him probably 90% of the time, and his reviews are fantastic. Next, I'll go check Roger Ebert, and I usually also like the Onion A.V. Club reviews.
Some of my favorite movies...Pulp Fiction, The Prestige, True Romance, Brick, Inglourious Basterds, Aliens, Memento, The Dark Knight, Out of Sight, Sin City, Apatow comedies
ETA: I'll check rottentomatoes for a general idea of how a movie's doing, but I don't read anyone's reviews until after I see the movie.

I always just check IMDB I prefer real peoples ratings to critics. I don't read reviews until after I see the movie, then I might check out what the professional critics say to see if they agree with my own assessment.
