The 1997 team had the best start.

well apparently we haven't been as impressive per the national media. we were 27-10 at the same point last season and #1 in the nation IIRC

Its a great start, but we've got away to go. The errors, bunting, and base-running,all need some tweeking before the post-season. Pitching is still a concern, but for now.

Name me a LSU championship team that did those things well ?

Btw, we are the second BEST fielding team in the SEC this year, we do that well.

That's pretty impressive because it really seems this team hasn't put it all together yet.

The best is yet to come. The Tigers ususlly get better as the season goes on.

We'll know a lot more about this team after the next 2 weekend series.

We bunt??

That is still my biggest fear, thinking ahead to the post-season. I would hope PM would not have to use Ott as anything other than a closer, but after the Bama game, who knows??

Absolutely. Pretty scary that we haven't hit our stride yet.

Errors----This team is a pretty damn good fielding team

Bunting---Who gives a crap about bunting?...leave it for Texas--just steal or hit and run with our speed and bats.

Baserunning---we only remember the bad times...but the aggressive baserunning has been more beneficial than not.

I think none of the above are real issues.

Now pitching...that still needs to be figured out before post season. Matulis and JB need to be very consistant the next few weeks or Ott may be moved to the weekend.

The point is we need to continue to improve...Duh!,I know, but if the pitching is struggling,we have to improve the other facets, once the competition gets better. If the pitching matures, we'll be fine.

57-13 was the final record of the 97 team. Started out 19-0 as well.
