I used to defend him, but he's just a grumpy old man now.

I'm in the same boat, did you hear the "call strike 3!" on delatte? Then the "base hit by delatte to win!"
Posted on 4/7/10 at 11:17 pm to BBATiger
dude really? Dozar struck out to a guy that had NEVER PITCHED IN COLLEGE AND WAS A frickING INFIELDER!!!! he was 0-2 to delatte.

It's not Hawhthoren's fault some of you are too stupid to listen to the radio.

I have noticed the same thing with the Nascar announcers as they get older. Benny Parsons was more whacked than John Madden. Darryl Waltrip used to be very enjoyable now he is getting more and more like Parsons was.

If I want to listen to a pissed off LSU fan wearing his heart on his sleeve, I'll just pay my brother to call the games for me. He loses more and more professionalism each year. NO WAY was he so negative in the Bertman/Saban years. It's painful to listen to.

Last night he said mahtook was "hotter than a pistol." WTF. He can't even get the cool play on words right anymore. It's "hotter than a two dollar pistol." Just sounds like a complete f*&king tard.

Then don't listen, and drive to all the games.
There is nothing wrong with Hawthorne. You tell me how a guy is supposed to follow a school's teams for like 20 years and act like he doesn't give a shite whether they win or lose.

What did Hawthorne say? I wasn't able to listen to the game tonight.

Yep.

Half those ragging on him would sound like wounded manatees in the booth if they were calling the game. STFU and be appreciative they are broadcasting live, clear, and for free...I know I am and Geaux Jim!

He called the baseball game, and was less than "God like" so he clearly needs to retire now.

He got excited on long flyouts and he got down after a strikeout and two strikes to Delatte before Delatte singled in the game-winning run.

You're going to pull a muscle tonight defending him.
I like him, I like his voice, and I used to like how he called a game. Now he just lets his frustration take over and it dominates what he is trying to do. He is not being paid by LSU to jump on the kids like this. I specifically heard him call Chris Bass "useless" a couple times last year. Not professional at all.

I don't think we are expecting perfection. I just believe that most people can see that the quality of his broadcasts has gone down significantly. Age probably has a lot to do with it.

It seems like he doesn't enjoy doing baseball. He constantly complains about how long the game is taking, the pitching changes, the throwing over to first base. I don't understand why he just doesn't turn it over to someone else if he doesn't want to be there.
