what is your honest opinion of the 2010 team? Just trying to get a good idea of what everyone is thinking...

9-3, but 8-4 wouldn't surprise me. Our D is very very fast.

I'll bite...
I think we will see more of the same that we have seen the last two years. You will hear Miles talk about improvement here and there and we may see a little improvement here and there, but we will also see backsliding in other areas.
The schedule is tougher. Arkansas and Auburn will be better. MSU will be at least as good. Ole Miss may be a little worse. Bama will be very good, if not better than this year. Then you throw in UNC and WV.
I see the season playing out one of two ways: (1) the wheels fall off the wagon early and the fans turn on Miles, the team turns on Miles and the fans as they lose faith, 5-7 or 6-6 and Miles is fired; or more likely (2) 7-5 to 8-4 with Miles being very much on the hot seat heading into 2011, Crowton gets the ax, fanbase loses faith, etc.
You could be wearing the darkest shade of purple glasses and still know in the back of your mind that nothing has really changed from last year and with a tougher schedule that likely means a worse result than last year.
It is what it is...that is not being negative, that is seeing things for what they are. To that end, LSU needs to decide if they want to be an above average program or an elite program. If the later, they need to begin a coaching search now behind the scenes.

Nothing has changed.
Low expectations.
Frustration levels for LSU fans will be high.
Lots of excuses and double-speak by CLM.
Mid-range bowl if we're lucky.
And the beat goes on...

Everything looks pretty good except the qb situation and the coach! 7-5, INDEPENDANCE BOWL!

Yes he will. I know everyone thinks that the LSU athletic budget is a bottomless pit but it is not. Moreover, those who have functioned behind the scenes in filling the coffers are not as wealthy and/or as willing to fill said coffers in this increasingly glim economic climate.
The only way Miles is fired is if LSU finishes 6-6 or below. That does not go for the staff, but LSU does not have the money to fire Miles and the staff and then go pay for an elite coach (going rate will be $4 Million +).
Sun rises, sun sets, shite flows down hill. There are certain facts and in this case, lack of money in this nation and this region is one of those facts.

like most teams in the spring this one has a long way to go. i have no idea how much we improve, but unless the qb play gets much better and we get more impressive play at dt this will be leslie's last year as hc at lsu.

I think that we are going to be surprised this year with how good our team actually is. Look, i think that our running game is going to be one of the best in the sec and also in the nation, those guys are ready. I also think that our O-Line is going to really beat some teams up. I also think that what we saw out of our D-Line was a little misleading seeing as our 2 big guys didn't play and kelvin sheppard also didn't play. The big problem that is troubling everyone is the QB position. If either JJ or JL can just be good and not great, i think that this team just might win 10 or more games. i know that is a little high in some people's mind. But we are playing NC in a dome, which will only help our speed out. Miles usually does well in games when he has a lot of time to prepare for them, we have tough games at florida, arkansas and auburn, but if we can somehow win 1 or 2 of those games and maybe surprise alabama i believe that we can and should win the rest of our games, so we could possibly be 11-1, again, i know that this opinion is not shared with everyone else, but just for a little bit of sunshine, matt mauck threw 5 int's in the spring game in 2003 and look how that year turned out.

If you go by the spring game and JJ's play 7-8 wins. If he improves 10 wins.. QB has to win a game or 2 to win 10 plus..

Dang, I'm sure glad you didn't go negative on us.
And you got all that from a spring scrimmage game, did you.
