Just saw this article on NOLA.....I figured crawfish would be somewhat cheaper the last couple weeks with the warmer weather we've been having. Hopefully, the wild crop will pick up the slack.

Not sure what it is going to do next week. Prices are down anywhere from $.25-$.50 this week compared to last week. Hopefully prices hold steady for next week.

I saw one place up here in S'port where they're down to $2.99 live. Still a little high, but down about $1 from last week.

Off The Hook Seafood Market & Deli ***Crawfish Update: Live Crawfish- $2.39/lb, Boiled Crawfish-$3.49. Our boiled crawfish are now better than ever-we recently started boiling them with fresh onions and fresh celery to give it that homemade taste!***

I wouldn't laugh. Most caterers and commercial boilers don't go beyound seasoning mixes, with fresh seasonings, for their product.

celery has no place in a boil in my opinion. Part of the reason I cant stand the process people use when they boil in clean water and let sit in ice chest is that the seasoning they use has a ton of celery salt in it.

I have a transplanted yankee buddy that lives in Ms. now who unfortunately considers celery one of his main seasonings for crawfish. I rarely add it,but a little doesn't hurt. I don't let that SOB cook when I do a boil.

They were $2.79 at the corner of Bert Kouns and Youree. At least they were on Wednesday.

For those in Nola, there is a place called Michael's on Jefferson near Riverdale that is selling for $2 a pound. Good taste, decent size

Otis, there are so many opinions when it comes to boiled crawfish and boiled seafood in general in south Louisiana. All in all, a few fresh stalks of celery cut up won't harm the crawfish but just help contribute to the flavor. That's just my opinion.
