Is it possible for a 6-year recovered alcoholic to get life insurance?

I never really thought about it, but if you have trouble getting it on the market does your employer offer it?

Because of the many health complications, that alcoholism is known to cause, life insurance companies are not very accommodating when it comes to giving even recovered alcoholics a policy. However, there are some life insurance companies that look more favorably on cases of recovering alcoholics than others. The best way to identify these life insurance companies is by searching for quotes online. Since online quote providers have hundreds of life insurance carriers on their database, they are able to reach out better to the ones who will insure you at lower rates. You also stand a better chance than most because of your 6 year alcohol-free record. You will most likely be asked for your doctor’s opinion on the success of your alcoholism recovery program, as well as for medical reports. You should consider a term life policy because premiums will be more affordable than whole life premiums.

Forgive me for being naive, but how would the insurer know you were a recovered alcoholic unless you told them so?
Unless they can find out another way, check the "NO" box on the form where it says "Are you a recovered alcoholic?"

then you die from cirrhosis and the insurance company doesn't pay your beneficiary because of fraud.

Glass half empty :
Glass half full :
He gets run over by a bus before cirrhosis has a chance to kill him and everyone live happily ever after.
Original poster - I don't really think that you'll get run over by a bus anytime soon. I really would like to know how the insurer would discover your past problem without you disclosing it. Congratulations on being sober by the way.

I'm no agent, but with large policies you'll have to undergo a physical and they'll check your liver. Also, they'll require access to your medical records. If you sought treatment or your doctor recommended treatment it will be in the records.
If the liver and the records are "clean", they won't know unless it's a question on the form.
