Bo Spencer top 15 SEC scorer, starter on SEC champion
Quinton Thornton, valuable backup center on SEC title team
Garret Green, developing post man, jury still out
Did any of the players you listed even win a conference title?
i love when you say stuff like this.
these players sucked. Bad.
Ben Voogd played on a Final 4 team and was a backup on a Final 4 team. He was so awesome. Can Shan Foster brag about that??? NO!!!!!

I would bet that every team in the NCAA tournament has a player or two , maybe more who don't develop as well as hoped. Instead of selectively holding up one of them to ridicule how abot looking at the collective recruits for three or four years.
Not every La. product wants to come to LSU. Shan Foster was one, but LSU didn't pass on him to sign Voogd. Foster was a Vandy signee in 2004. LSU used it's three scholarships that year on Glen Davis, Tyrus Thomas and Garret Temple. All three started on a Final Four team, Temple on 2 SEC titlists and the others on one title team, All three are in the NBA today, Foster had a great career, but I am not certain the team accomplishments are the same with him.
Your criticism of Bo Spencer is not warranted.

right, players that shoot 33% and turn it over 3 times a game really help a team out.
you're fricking crazy. Bo Spencer blows.

He was a better player last year with more talent around him. This year's opponents could focus on him and Taz. He also had severl injuries to ankles and wrist which hampered him.

As an outsider looking in, I think your BB program has tremendous potential.
The talent in LA is solid, you have two of the top 50 players all time, the right coach (and you may have him) and fan support could make LSU a consistent top 25 team (and position you for deep runs in the NCAA tourney).
It has always seemed that BB was an afterthought for a lot of the LSU fans I know, why is that?

That's a reach. I wouldn't call him highly recruited, any more than Storm Warren was.

then how do you explain the final four run with ALL Louisiana players on the team (not even including Brandon Bass the year prior)

Two words: John Brady.
His team got raped in the arse vs UAB a few years back ,lost to Wisconsin, UCLA, Purdue by double digits and he sat on the bench doing nothing (like a deer in the headlines)
And LSU was the favorite going into all of those games WTF.
I can tell you that BB is not the afterthought at LSU. I remembered the fans supported us very well in the 80's (when Dale Brown took us to 10 plus straight NCAA tourneys).
As long as TJ takes LSU to the NCAA tournaments consistently, you will see the supports.
I do believe when it's all said and done, TJ will be the best Basketball HC ever at LSU (if he stays long enough)

Henry is not better than warren lol

UNC prob coached him therefore Henry is better
i dont see how a 6pt/3reb guy is better than a player that averages double that

We were a favorite vs a 2-seed? Had no idea.

The point is well taken, we have missed on Louisiana guys. But what is the expectation, that we get the best guys ever year?
People don't seem to look at other schools in other states and see how well they do with in-state talent.
Here is a nice resource

Not hard to avg. what storm did on a garbage team. Henry on this years LSU team would avg the same thing, maybe more. Head to head stats of Henry vs. Warren, Henry did better. Enough said, and won both games. Plus Henry's avg. came in 16(16.1) min. a game whereas storm's came in 27(26.7).

conference only stats. not quite a lol, imo.
henry
18 mpg, 7.6 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 0.6 TO/g, 54% FG, 72% FT
warren
25 mpg, 9.4 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 1.2 TO/g, 47% FG, 79% FT

Stats don't tell the whole story. I have seen both play many times and would take Storm 100 of 100 times. Henry is soft.
Playing the 4 next year with a true big man in the middle will show us the real Storm.

None signed last year by Trent and only one this year. Maybe there aren't any good players in La.

The problem with basketball recruiting is that you can't simply pick the best basketball players. You must pick the best players to match your philosophy. A coach may decide to pick one player over a seemingly better player because he feels that he can get 3 or 4 seasons out of that player compared to just 1 for the other. One player may be eligible and the other may struggle to qualify. One might not have the same character flaws as the other. One player might be a better leader. One guy may fit into your system better than a more talented player.
